First of all id like to say how far the media portal tv server has come and how great media portal is, i couldnt live life without it!

On to the problem.

After a week of fiddling etc i have finnaly got the tv server and client set up correctly! and i have noticed this:

in tve2 when one is watching timeshifting tv and one rewinds or fast fowards one gets a live preview of what is being rewound . e.g. the video either playing backwards or forwards quicker than 1x

In tve3 when one is watching timeshifted tv and one rewinds or fastforwads one does not get a live preview instead one gets the timestamp at the top either moving backwards or fowards e.g. 5.00 - 4.50 - 4-40 and the image is frozen, then when one pushes play the image jumps to the rewound or fastforwarded point

Is this a design feature of tve3 or is it something incorrect with my configuration.

I really hope its fixable as its quite hard to judge when the advertisments have finised and the program has started again as i cannot see a "live preview" of the video being rewound or fast fowarded.

Thanks for everybodys help in advance

Regards

TVe2 used DVR-MS and has no real problems with ffwd/rwd but only contains video/audio.

TVe3 uses .TS (contains all broadcast information) and unfortunately has ensuing problems with ffwd/rwd depending also on codecs.

Not realy a design flaw but a limitation at the moment.

There is nothing wrong with your instal in this respect, you could try different codecs to see if improvements can be found.

I don't use ffwd/rwd and prefer the jump skips through files, much quicker.

    ahh okay.

    thats what I thought.

on another note with timeshifting. the jumpskipping does not work sometimes untill I rewind or fast forward. For example . I will be watching a program and then i will want to go back 30 seconds. So i push back but all i get come up is "end" then i pause it or rewind it then try again and i get 30 secs 10 secs etc.

    Any ideas?

Haven't seen this with pure timeshifting on local or network clients. BUT

If this is a network client and you are playing back a schedule while it is recording then the bug is known and is in mantis.

If not, start a new bug report describing simple steps to reproduce and include clean fresh logs.

This issue seems to still be here in the latest rc4. Any ideas on when I will be able to rewind/fast foward effectively?
