FanartHandler isn't even supported for 1.6, so i can imagine it doens't support 1.7. For 1.6 a recompiled 'unofficial' dll has been created.
I couldn't help myself, did a little tweaking with the facades for series and movingpics. If anyone is interested.

Alternative IMDb+ hover attached. Needs size optimization as well. @powermarcel10 , do you have a link to a useful tool, and I can optimize it myself? I only have a 720p set, so please let me know if it looks rough on a 1080p screen.

GIMP is free, open source and available for both Linux and Windows...it has full graphics editing including letting you scale an image to whatever size you want up or down. Hope it's what you were looking for.

I use Photoshop CS2 (I got it free and legally), but it doesn't have any compression settings to optimize .png files. It does come with Imageready (for web images), maybe that'll do the trick.

But it isn´t - you must use the "unofficial" build as referred to aboveWhy you say so? It shows fine as compatible in MPEI.
as Catavolt says. It's been downloading for 3 days, and you think is is running fine? Either you have a massive collection, or a super slow internet connection.
