In my case just opening a folder with music (1600 single files + ~ 300 folders) is 16 seconds in MP. Speed is the same on Gigabit-LAN and 54 Mbps Wireless. Opening it in Explorer is ~ 1 second on wireless, instantaneously on Gigabit-LAN.

Yes, yes, I can use the database-driven view. But that is not the point :)

This issue is not a bug, but very, very, very bad design, and fixing it means to write an new MyVideos plugin from scratch (not kidding!).
That we will obviously not do for MP1 because it will take away too much time which we need for MP2, but maybe someone from the community will create a replacement for the myVideos plugin in MP1 one day? :)

To improove the situation in MP1 you can only do 3 things:
    1. make sure that SMB2 is used (i.e. do not use WinXp, it will force that SMB1 is used)
    2. do not store that many files in one folder - create some structure
    3. use plugins like TvSeries and MovingPictures which use a db driven view
