Anyone know of a plugin that works with MovingPictures, that will show me the trailer of the movie I have selected in the "poster view" mode when going into MovingPictures? I know about My Trailers, but thats a separate menu etc. I wanted to see if there was an add-on plugin going into MovingPictures.

Would be awesome to scroll through my movies, hit "play trailer" on a movie, get a quick preview and make a decision. My wife hasn't seen half the stuff I have so she would love it.

Thanks!

PS. I think this should be easy to build right? Pull a request off Youtube with some keywords and play it in a window?

Hey thanks man. I read through these posts. As it appears, its one of the top feature requests on MovingPictures but as of yet nothing has been implemented. There are a couple of people testing some workarounds but no official releases. Can anyone confirm positive results from some of these work arounds? Thanks

Damn man, IMDB has a trailer link on each page! THIS HAS GOT TO BE SO SIMPLE! Is it hard to do manual HTML editing is you have a real, real basic knowledge of it. All I need is to add a window in Moving Pictures and pull this link, activated by a button. 320X320 window would be fine:

IMDb Video: Sleepy Hollow

as far as i'm aware there is not way to launch trailer that matches the movie yet. this feature is coming in the future, and from what i have read the developers are already looking into pulling trailer from imdb. that random trailer should work using the script + advanced option in moving pictures to play intro video.

Random trailers are a nice gizmo but I think movie specific trailers integrated into MoviePictures is the moneyshot. Apple's trailers are just awesome with 1080p - not sure if you've seen it. I REALLY, REALLY HOPE THEY SORT THIS OUT. Thanks man.

yup i prefer using apple trailer "large format", they are amazing good quality for such small amount bitrate. 1080P uses to much bandwidth for crappy NZ internet.

This request seems to be the most starred, yet a rather low priority for the developers. I suspect this is because they realize what a can of worms they could be opening. Firstly, there are two rather different contexts for the word trailer. Do we mean a preview of a movie already in our collection, or are we looking for info as to what is currently showing in the cinemas. People say they want to see a 'random' trailer - without thinking what that means in an international development environment - more like 'a trailer in English, rated PG or less, for a blockbuster movie showing in the US in the next couple of months.' Not quite random is it?

My feeling is that we need to look at this in a Moving Pictures context here, so trailers should be seen here as the first kind mentioned - those that match movies already in our collection. The other kind (movies currently in cinemas or about to be released) really should be a separate plugin, shouldn't it. Even then it leaves a huge variety of sources, bearing in mind we still need to consider language, rating, length, etc.

My suggestion would therefore be to start simple. Create a naming convention that would allow MP to recognize the trailer matching an existing movie file - and if that exists put a 'Play Preview' button on the movie details page, that simply plays the trailer. Hopefully that is so simple it might actually get done fairly quickly.

After that folks can write their own code to bring down trailers to their hard drives, or the MP team can add trailer capabilities to their scraper engine, but those can easily be further off into the future.

I completly agree with you, the "Play Trailer" button would be an incredible feature and would be enough for me. I don't think that this is so much complicated, devs have to add a new gap in the database with the Trailer name and then make a scraper that looks in the film directory (for example) for trailer.mov (.avi, .mkv,...) files. Is this very difficult?

To download the trailers we could use this program (or could be intregated in the moving pictures, that would be the best option):

Another possibility is to write scrapers with the ability to download trailers from different sources (like movie details, covers and backdrop scrapers). Here are some of them:

    Dave's Trailer Page
    Movie-List - Archive
    Apple - Movie Trailers
    HD-Trailers.net - All Trailers
QueDeTrailers.com, la mayor coleccin de trailers de cine y juegos de la red (spanish)

But well, first we have to be patient until the 0.8 version is released and then we can talk about this.

Thanks for the developers for their incredible work, this plugin is GREAT!

    Regards,

    Aitor
