Hi I have 4 tuners available to me, two DVB-T and two DVB-S. Some channels are only available on DVB-S/DVB-T some are on both. The problem is that the tuner allocation algorithm is a simple linear search. So say I have the two DVB-S cards first in order. If I want to record 3 overlapping programs, say the first two programs are on ITV and BBC which are on both DVB-S and DVB-T and the third is on BBC-HD which is only on DVB-S. Then the recording of the BBC-HD program will fail because both DVB-S cards will be in use (recording BBC and ITV even though these could have used the DVB-T cards)... Is there a good way to fix this (a better tuner allocator)? Would having the cards organised as DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-T, DVB-S be a better way to have things set up? Anyone else got this sort of setup?

Increase the priority of your DVB-T cards, so that they will be choosen first, if possible than you will keep your DVB-S free.

That's fine for this example, but now say I have recordings on BBC1, ITV and Yesterday (which I think is only on DVB-T), now I will miss the Yesterday recording as both DVB-T cards will be in use...

if i record 2 shows on the same channel, I use only one DVB-C card for that.
I use a CAM in my tuner card and set the CAM limit off (zero).
This way I can record all programs on the same transponder, not only the same channel.

Hi, Yes I know about being able to record multiple shows from the same mux/transponder that's why in the example I tried to select channels that require different ones...

maybe 4therecord can help you. I know it has a better algorithm to determine free cards, but can't tell you the details. ask in the forum.
