Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find quite this problem mentioned.

My system was really stable for ages, then recently started doing weird things after resume from hibernate. I've cured most of that now, but it still seems that MP refuses to tune to a channel after resume. MP generally works - you can watch recordings, play music, etc, but if you try to watch live TV it locks up and MP has to be killed through Task Manager. In the tv log it shows the "find free card" running three times, then nothing (and MP is then unresponsive).

The obvious thing to suspect is that the tuner card (Hauppauge HVR3000) can't survive the hibernate/resume cycle, but it was always OK before and AFAIK nothing has changed since it last worked (I haven't installed new drivers or anything). TV server seems to be working because you can look at the EPG (is this a correct assumption?)

I tried changing the suspend mode from hibernate (S4) to S3 to see if it helped, but the problem still occurs. I've tried "reinitialise service" on and off in PowerScheduler. I've tried a "delay before detecting tuners" in TV Server config, but no difference (and it never needed any of that before...)

Anybody have any clues what's going on?

After lots more fiddling, I'm convinced it's something to do with the EPG grabbing. If I turn off DVB EPG grabbing the problem doesn't happen. If I leave EPG grabbing on, it hangs on tuning a TV channel after wakeup. Does that give anybody any more clues?

Is it possible to automate MP settings with a batch file or something? If I could get it to enable EPG grabbing at night, then turn it off after grabbing and reboot the machine that would get round the problem. For now I'll just update the EPG manually every couple of days until I find a proper fix.

I seem to have cured my problem by installing a later driver for my Hauppauge HVR3000 tuner. No idea why it stopped working in the first place, but it's been running for three days now with EPG grabbing enabled, through quite a few suspend/resume cycles with no problems.

EDIT: Quick update - still OK after a week. Must have been a problem with the driver.
