Looks very good. How did you avoid showing the desktop? Did you replace the shell in registry?

Looks great, but you can significantly improve boot times by simply disabling the boot gui altogether.

I got my boot time down from 27secs to about 10 seconds from bios post screen to fully loaded mediaportal.

A resume from suspend or hibernate tales just 6 seconds.

Type msconfig in search in windows startbutton meny (sorry for bad english)
On the tab systemstart you have a box, "start without graphical gui", tick that box
Klick OK
Done!

Hmm this is weird, I had it working perfectly earlier, but after a reinstallation of Windows the program seems to no longer able to change the boot screen.

i don't know you problem !
but look this issue

When you install SP1 or KB2506014 without uninstalling the bootskin it causes the boot to revert to normal and not let you apply it anymore. This will be fixed in the next version, but you must remedy your current situation first:

Remove KB2506014 if it is installed, see Remove an update
Run Windows 7 Boot Updater
Choose "Options" > "Restore Backups". Repeat until it says nothing is restored.
Install KB2506014
