    this is my config.
It does look like DTS Neo: PC is running and converting your stereo to surround. From the screenshots I did not see a way of turning this off, are there any more options in your control panel to turn this off (or do you have the manual)

in my standard configuration ALL DSP effect are disabled (DTS Neo, 7.1 Virtual Shifter, ......).
I have activated them in the screenshot only to show you all possible options.

No other options and no nanual, in the club3d site too.

I thinks i baypass the problem, changing my setting.

    i have done:
    - disable PureAudio :(
    - disable BASS Player
    - set Internal Dshow Player
    - in "sound Device" set "Default DirectSound Device" instead of "Default Sound Device"

In this way Mediaportal use (on my system) ffdshow audio decoder for ALL music files in the correctly mode (stereo file in stereo mode, multichannel files in multichannel mode, ec......).

The reason is (i thinks) the possibility to use the "Default DirectSound Device". And with BASS player is not possible.

CAN BE A BUG OR MY SYSTEM PROBLEM?
Edit: i thinks i must post in music section now

I think that's a bug in your soundcard driver, as you stated previously that the same happens with other players and also with foobar in KS mode and you have to use DirectSound rather than the WaveOut to get it working.
I was also using multichannel analogue on XP before on my system (with a Creative card) and music never expanded automatically to surround with any player. I would report this to Club3D.

    Thanks, i will contact Club3d.

But wich are the difference between DirectSound and the WaveOut (with analogue output)?

DirectSound is the recommended interface with Windows 2000/XP, WaveOut dates back to Windows 3.0 and is not recommended on 2000/XP (it can't use any hardware acceleration, has inexistent or very limited mixing capabilities and picky hardware support/compatibility and no hardware abstraction layer so you can have weird things like your exact problem here).
Note that on the BASS website it says it uses DirectSound for output, but the "default sound device" (indicating WaveOut) / "default DirectSound device" distinction in MediaPortal is strange.

With this setup and config it is definately not PureAudio producing the 5.1 sound...
Maybe you could post a logfile here, that will confirm.

However i dont see anything in the soundcard config screens that might cause it, but that might be my very poor italian:)... I'm sure there's an option somewhere tnat can be switched off.

    No, never other option :(

I ask in other forum. The problem seems to be caused by windows XP mixer.
    Can you confirm?

    Thanks.

NB. Club3d sent me newer XP driver. But the problem remains.

I must partially corrected: 2ch audio files are not upmixed to 5.1, but ............:

Output device config.: if i set

    1) First channel: 1 Agrippa wave device 1
Last channel: 1 Agrippa wave device 1
the sound is reproduced from the left and center speaker

    2) First channel: 2 Agrippa wave device 2
Last channel: 2 Agrippa wave device 2
the sound is reproduced from the right and center speaker

    3) First channel: 3 Agrippa wave device 3
Last channel: 3 Agrippa wave device 3
    NO sound from speakers

    4) Last channel: 1 Agrippa wave device 1
Last channel: 2 Agrippa wave device 2
the sound is reproduced from the left, center and right speaker

    :confused::confused::confused:
