TV can't tune - 2 different cards (3 Viewers)

Update on my dual card experiences.

Well, I finally got it working - Compro DVB 300 + LeadTek DVB T1000.
I installed the patch and still experienced crashes. Tried a reinstall of RC2. It was only then that it worked.
It seems that timeshifting must be enabled. Without this, any attempt to use the 2nd card hangs MP. It happened that on reinstalling RC2 timeshifting is enabled by default :) ... and I was just about to give up.

Many thanks for all the assistance.

Have you applied all the other MS fixes recommended, and checked the video PCI latency?

Yes to both these - I reapplied just to be sure - but it's still the same.

I'd be ok with the timeshift-always-on workaround, but unfortunately, even with this workaround I still have a problem:

The compro captured stream has drop outs (video/audio discontinuities) whenever the Leadtek is active. Interestingly the converse isn't true, the Leadtek works regardless of whatever the compro is doing. The compro works fine if the leadtek is not active. I tried running the compro in solo-mode and running the leadtek winfast DTV software to activate it outside of MP. Running like this, the compro is fine - implying there is no fundamental HW level conflict. Also, since the leadtek works ok if the compro is in use, there is no fundamental problem with MP (I tried switching the card1,card2 order to confirm this too). Rather, the problem lies when using the compro+leadtek with directshow/bda... Now my question (to myself) is - is this the compro's drivers not playing nice or the leadteks drivers not playing nice! Mmm or is the dshow runtime at fault, but always/only affecting the compro due to some internal card enumeration ordering...
Fun and games...

    Patch worked

    Hi,

Well, with a Win TV Nova-T PCI and a HVR-1100, the patch worked perfectly. I can now watch one channel while recording another, or record two channels at the same time.

Superb. Ready to switch to MP 100%.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

anyone know if this patch will work with Windows XP x64?? , i'm still having troubles getting my tuner to work in x64, it works with the Fusion software but not in MP, i noticed that the Graphedit program had a different value to what was in the definitions.xml file but i changed that and it fixed the error message i was getting with the
Can't create graph error, but i can't tune in any stations.

If i do run my fusion app then go in and try and tune i can get some stations, but then in MP i get no picture or sound, so i'm keen to try this patch as well.
    Any ideas?

If you dont have more than one tuner, this patch would do nothing for you so I wouldnt risk it. Being 32 bit I dont think it work myself, probably just break graph building altogether.

Well I updated to LeadTek drivers 3214 and all is well - stuttering gone :)
I must still use timeshifting to avoid the hang in MP - everything is still working (playing/recording tv), it just looks like the MP GUI/message handling thread is stalled (MP not responding); perhaps a race condition.

Anyway, these 3214 drivers are for MCE I think, so perhaps there's some requirement on these if the patch mentioned earlier in this thread is applied....

Hope this helps anyone else with LeadTek/dual tuner issues.

can i just copy files from my mce install? if so which files??
Its not quite as simple as just copying the new files from MCE to XP. You have to put the new files in a different folder (MediaPortal, for example), unregister the XP files (which are in windows\system32) and then register the new MCE files. The Radlight Filter Manager is a good tool to use for this unregistering/registering process.

The files are mpeg2data.ax & PsisDecd.dll - both files should be version 6.5.2710.2732, which I think are in RU2 of MCE?

    Cheers,

    Taipan

I seem to be having trouble with this again. I unpack the file into my documents folder, run the runme.bat, and it seems to work okay, but when I run dxdiag, it shows the version numbers of the old files.

Is this normal? How can I check if the files have been properly registered, and do I need to run the bat file after every reboot?

    Thanks,

    Mark

The same thing happened to me. I couldn't get it to "stick" or it would totally corrupt the directshow filters and I would need to roll back. Eventually I got it working by taking another file from the MCE install, unregistering everything manually then reregistering all three files. The file I took from the MCE installation was the .ax file that refers to the psidec.dll file when seen in radlight filter manager. It seems that the regular DVB patch works for most people, but for me this extra step was necessary.

    Best Practice?????

I have a Hauppage PVR500 and am about to add a Win Nova-t PCI to my system, is there a best practice to follow?
Do I tune the second card in and assign it to my existing channels or create new channels?
Is there any recomended priority settings?
Will I need the 'patch' mentioned here?
Im running RC2 but no additional CVS
Just looking for general pointers for adding additional cards so that I avoid any mistakes/screwing my system

    Many thanks

Not really using the second tuner on my PVR500 card, I run cable through the first tuner and was going for the digital option with the nova-t...
