Hi,

I've got a fully working singleseat setup on my main htpc and am looking to stream tv to one of my bedrooms on a second pc, I've installed mediaportal and the third option (client only), I started the client plugin and typed in the ip address as requested.....this gave me 'connected to tv server-unable to connect to database, all ip ports seem fine'. Do I need to configure the client (add database username password etc ??). This is my first attempt at streaming so I'm not sure if I've missed a step.
Error log from tvserver folder below:-

You will probably need to change the singleseat installation to a multiseat one before anything gets streamed to the network. Have a look at TV Server configuration to verify the IP. Unfortunately I don't know if the singleseeat can be changed to multiseat (i.e. 127.0.0.1 to a 'real' IP). In the extreme case you may have to uninstall TV Server (export the TV channels first!) and then reinstall. Quick deal, you'll be done in a few minutes.

    Sorry about the late reply.........

    Quote from the wiki :-

'Singleseat Installation will install MediaPortal and the TV-Server on the computer. The computer has to contain a video capture card, and will be used for viewing your recordings. Note that you can still install a MediaPortal client on another computer also; a single seat installation can also function as a server for another computer.'

So it seems my setup is correct as the client reports that it's connected to the server and all ip ports are ok, The only problem I've got is that it can't connect to the database. Do I need to change any settings in MYsql to allow external programs to connect?? or is there a config screen for the client that I cant find.

    Regards.

    Hello 404,

The firewall needs to open some ports. Try to deactivate the firewall on the server to check whether your problem is related to the firewall blocking the access.

    Hi again,

SQL config o.k, checked firewall as recommended by HTPC_Sourcer and indeed some required ports were not open, works fine now.
Is it not possible to run both systems at the same time ? I get no free card available on my main pc when client is running.

Thanks to both of you for the help.......404

Yes and no. Once the card is tuned by client 1, client 2 can only access channels on the same transponder that client 1 is already using, hence the choice of channels is limited. If you browse through your mini-guide on client 2 you should see a few channels that are not marked in red. If you want more choices you will need to add additional TV cards to your server PC (which do also require additonal SAT cables with independent LNBs).
