Hi there, after a long time of happy MP use, I'm trying to liven up another PC as a MP client only. Problems ensue...

Problem #1. Client cannot connect to TV Server on Vista box unless I disable firewall on the server. How do I set the firewall on the server to allow the client to connect for this purpose without disabling the firewall entirely?

Problem #2. HDTV streamed to the client is fine initially. But as soon as I skip foward a bit, the video starts being jerky and out of sync. Only solution is to stop playback and restart from the previous position, where playback is fine again. Any tips?

Thanks for that link. I did think that the MP install would have done that, but I can't see any evidence of the sorts of things on that page you linked. Where did they get to, or did the install not do its job? I need the tvserver ports open on the Vista box I suppose.

That sounds quite promising for the future. I am still back on 1.0.2 because 1.1 had random stuttering problems on my hardware. Perhaps 1.2 will fix these?

Meanwhile, I have this wierd situation where TV will play back fine on my "new" multiseat client, until I try to move around in the stream. Attached logs. Note the hardware in "My System" is the TV Server, see above for the TV Client.

tsreader.log shows no issues between 22-04-2011 12:50:17.937 and 22-04-2011 12:51:55.468 when I went back 1 minute in the stream. Thereafter there are heaps of :

    22-04-2011 12:52:37.156 [97c]Vid/Ref : 79.655, Late ?-frame(00), Compensated = 39.700 ( 0.013 A/V buffers=00/76), Clk : 39.687000, State 2

Until I stop the playback. Playback is looking slow motion and jerky... Problem occurs in live-tv (these logs) and with recorded TV, where the same behaviour is seen if I jump forward in the stream. Anyone with a good eye spot anything fixable in my logs? Tips to resolve short of waiting for 1.2?

    Hi, closing off this thread...

Firewall changes from the wiki did the trick.

And changing from the "ATI Media Decoder" to trusty "PCM H264/AVC Decoder" codec cured the stutter after skip issue.

    Seems good now.
