I've been through the FAQ, searched found some very interesting threads but have not managed to increase the stability of my current set-up. I even changed my tvservice exe to the one found in this thread..
<https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mediaportal-1-1-0-rc-1-496/tvservice-dying-very-often-78740/> ..and then I changed it back as it failed to launch after a restart.

Picture is showing brief corruption and then it freezes. I can attempt to switch channel and sometimes there is no service, sometimes it will switch, run for a short time and then freeze up again. It looks like there is insufficient signal / too much interference but I had the cabling and aerial redone last year and it worked fine on 1.1.2 on my older XP machine (which I no longer have).

The TV service will sometimes drop out but not reliably and not while I generated the logs.

I've run a DPC latency check and that all looks good. In manual testing signal level is around 50% and Signal Quality is a full green bar.

This is a dual boot machine with both Win7 64bit and XP SP3. Both have 1.1.3.0 installed and both exhibit the same behaviour.

I've given myself thread blindness trying to hunt for solutions / explanations, so apologies if I have missed something obvious but I'm at a loss. Hopefully someone can help me out before the Canadian GP on Sunday!

Logs attached (hopefully without an edit of shame)

    Hi there

    Two suggestions:

    1. Change your codec settings (in MediaPortal configuration -> codecs and renderer -> TV codecs) to use the Microsoft codec for MPEG 2 video.

    2. It is my understanding is that many regions in the UK are having their channels reshuffled at the moment. If your cabling is fine then it may be that channels have moved. I'd recommend that you delete all your channels and then do a full rescan for your region. If channels are missing then you may need to scan "UK - all regions"...

    Thanks for the advice mm.

I ran a rescan yesterday before posting, as I had no idea if my transmitter had switched off its analogue signal; apparently it is not due to switch until later in the year.

I've changed the codec and TV is currently up and running and has been for ten minutes.....I'll post back later....damn, it has just frozen again :(

There is a large spike in MP CPU usage when it crashed 54% from a baseline level of about 8%.

    Hi again

Are you able to provide new logs? The last set were *incredibly* long so it was hard to see anything. Deleting your logs before trying to reproduce the problem would help. Log locations:

    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Log
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log

Note: those are hidden folders, so use the link in your start menu MediaPortal folder or enable viewing of system/hidden folders to to find them...

Ah, sorry about the previous logs, I'll remember to clear them next time. The next set should be much shorter!

Running under debug at the moment, I'll post when I have got something...

    Hi again

It looks like the connection between the TV Server and MP client is dropping out for some reason. On the TV Server side:

I'm not very good at resolving these kinds of problems - I'm better with tuner problems. If it were me, the first thing I would try is disabling all firewalls (the connection still requires networking even on a single seat installation). I'd also make sure my computer was using a static IP address...

I've switched off DHCP and gone with a static address. I've no software firewalls running - but do have a hardware one running on the main DSL router....I'lll bin that one for the subject of a quick test.

    Meanwhile here are current logs.

    Hi again

Well no connection dropout in the latest logs - just plain old "no signal" found. I can't tell whether that is genuinely because there is no signal or whether something else is going on. The only thing I can suggest is try using the DVB-T network provider instead of the generic network provider. You can find that setting under TV Server configuration -> TV Servers -> Monolith (the tuner list). Select the first Nova tuner, click "edit". Choose "DVBT" as the "preferred network provider". Repeat for the second tuner. Let me know if that makes any difference...

    Hi mm

I've been busy as I thought that i'd install Hauppauge WinTV to give me a backup option incase I couldn't get the TV service more stable, I know...

This knackered the remote for use with MP, and was as useless a solution as I remember it. I then uninstalled the WinTV but MP couldn't connect to the card at all, so I uninstalled the hauppauge card, ran their HCWClear prog.
Then installed the Hauppauge drivers, the IR prog and then reinstalled MP 1.1.3.0

So far so good....I would have posted earlier but I wanted to give it a chance to fall over, but it has been up and running well for an hour or so.

Thanks for taking the time to reply mm, much appreciated. I'll change the DVBT preference setting as I'm sure it won't do any harm as that is the only one available.
    Take it easy!
