Hello,

Before I go through a long diagnostic session I would like to ask if anyone else has had this problem?

When watching live TV (SD or HD) the picture and sound (both over HDMI) are dropped momentarily every 30 -60 minutes (picture is black).

If I rewind the live TV stream and review the same time period the problem is not reproduced so it is not a problem with the stream.

I've tried Catalyst 11.4 and 11.8.

The next logical step is different codecs but unfortunately the only codec that works correctly is the Microsoft codec. I can get a picture with FFDShow DXVA but for some reason it drives the CPU and GPU much harder than the microsoft ones and spins up all the fans.. I can still test with it but it's not a practical alternative. I don't have PDVD10 or 11.

So.. just in-case you've had the same issue or similar issue what did you do to fix it?

Haven't got a similar problem, but from your description it sounds like a slow timeshift-buffer or something like that. Different interval on SD and HD also suggest it is buffer-related. If you post some debug-logs where this has happened, I'm sure others can tell if that is your case :)

Interesting theory, thanks! I'll knock the log level to debug and see what pops out.

Are you sure about the timing? There seems to be a time-gap in the logs between 21:07:57 and 22:02. For tswriter this gap is between 20:58 and 22:02

    Weird :(

    I'm quite sure. I made notes :)

At 20:58 I switched on debug logging and restarted MP. At 21:07 I paused the stream. At 22:02 I shutdown MP to retrieve the logs. I assume when there's nothing interesting happening nothing is logged so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the stream.

    Thanks for looking.

The last thing in your system event log is disk defragmentation completed then nothing which seems a bit strange.

Sorry, I don't follow.. this is the system event log (from the log.zip) following the last disk defrag:
