I have managed to configure my htpc to store the TV-recordings on a network share. It seems to work fine.
    But:
I have found some entries here in the forum where several people are stating that this is not recomended. Does anybody know, what is the reason for this recomandation?

    thanks

I would have thought that the write times are going to be far slower.

You will also be flooding your network with the write file, as well as using the network to read the file to play it back (very inefficient).

May cause issues if the share is not available.

    Probably the main reasons.

    Hi megahorst

robbo100 is absolutely right. Network latency (more of a factor for using a share for timeshifting), low write speeds, network flooding, share reliability... I think those are most of the major factors. It may not be such a problem with only one recording, but the problem gets worse if you are recording multiple channels simultaneously...

AW: TV recording on network share / why not recomended?

I have tested the recording on my NAS since a few weeks. I did not mention any issues within my GBit network.

Do you think I should ad an article to the WIKI or not since this feature is not recommended?
