    Hi,

I am starting to get a few recordings building up and wanting to watch the shows in episode order (some episodes/re-runs are aired out of order which messes it up if I decide to watch by recording date). The episode field is always empty so I never know if the next recorded show is the actual next episode or not.

I have a EPG scrapper that collects season and episode details which are displayed in the EPG (which is very nice when watching live tv), and the recording are saved in this format of "The X-Files - 2019-07-05 - S1 - E20 - Darkness Falls.ts". However in TV Recording, episode is always blank.

Is this a matter of the formatting of the file name or is something else needed?

    Cheers.

I'm not recording and do not have even TV at the moment. But checking some past recordings from beginning of the year, which I used for skinning, I always find the episode information. Please check your xml file in the folder of the recording and compare once.

The problem is I think, that you can not sort for episodes in case of recordings, because recordings are handled neutraly, meaning they can be movies or series.
At least this is my understanding.

    Thanks @ge2301

My xml is similar in that its stores the Episode Name, Series Number and Series Episode.

I can appreciate that TV recordings doesn't sort for episodes due to handling both movies and series, but to clarify I have attached a screen shot of the screen and locating the right episode would be very handy! MP - TV recordings episode details.png

Mmh, indeed. I either didn’t see the data or the posting was edited.

Anyway, if the field content is not displayed by TE, I would rather think of a skin issue.

    It was not edited ;)

That was the first thing I checked. As the screenshot is from TE theme I checked the code and the episode label is available.
    Code (XML):
    1.     <media:SeriesAspectWrapper Grid.Row="6" Grid.Column="1" MediaItem="{Binding Source={StaticResource FanArtBackgroundModel},Path=MediaItem}">
    2.       <media:SeriesAspectWrapper.Template>
    3.         <ControlTemplate>
    4.           <Label x:Name="Episode" Margin="0" DataContext="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}"
    5.              Content="{Binding Series}" Color="{ThemeResource TextColor}" Scroll="Auto" />
    6.         </ControlTemplate>
    7.       </media:SeriesAspectWrapper.Template>
    8.     </media:SeriesAspectWrapper>
I wonder, if anybody ever saw episode numbers. Here I'm the wrong guy because I have no need to record something from TV.

I investigated a bit and it was never available. See here.
Technically it can be not done from skin side. The reason is

    @henso
Is it possible to add the episode info also to the RecordingAspectWrapper, to have the info even when not importet from a series share?
I'd hide the label in case it has no content, so it won't cause any inconsistancy. Currently the episode label always exists in some skins/themes (e.g. TE in screenshots above).

No, they are not part of the RecordingAspect so there is nothing to wrap. Can you not check if the SeriesAspect is present? It should only be present if there is any series information.
EDIT: I meant the EpisodeAspect not the SeriesAspect.
