Thank you, pilehave, for your advice on what to do to obtain a tvguide. The files you described were not located where you said. I finally found them in another location (C:\Documants and Settings\All User.WINDOWS\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\Media
Portal Tv Server\xmltv. I was able to create tvguide.xml by manually mapping several local channels and grabbing them. Problem is, when I go into MP TV I still get no data found for those channels I mapped and grabbed. So that is where I am at right now.

Did you set up and run the XmlTv import?
    XmlTv - MediaPortal Wiki

The webepg way is two steps, grab result and do something with it. So far you grabbed the data, now you need to map your channels with the xml-file that was created.

BTW: How do you receive your tv, is it analog, DVB or ATSC or? The reason why I ask, is that some broadcaster have the EPG in their tv-signal. Would be much easier ;)

    Pilehave,

I manually mapped several channels and did a grab in WebEPG. I then went to XmlTv and did a load in Mapping. The channels I had mapped showed up on the list of channels as mapped. In the General tab I had already selected "Import new tvguide.xml". When I pressed the Force input button, the input status report showed 5 channels imported and 0 programs imported, with a message: "tvguide.xml No programs found.

Did you take a look in the XML-file to see what is in it?

Yes I looked at the tvguide.xml file, but I don't know what I am looking for.

    - <tv generator-info-name="WebEPG">
    -

    <display-name>KUTV-HD</display-name>

    -

    <display-name>KUTV2.2</display-name>

    -

    <display-name>KSL-HD</display-name>

    -

    <display-name>ABC4</display-name>

    </tv>

    This is all it contained.

Then it's empty. You have no programmes, so the EPG grabber may be faulty, channels have no programme information or something else.

You didn't mention anything about your network-provider and how you receive television, but some network-providers (broadcasters) have EPG-data available more than one place.

For me, in Denmark, I have two free providers on the web with danish tv-channels. Some kind person wrote grabbers for these two websites. These grabbers can I use, just as you tried to use one for your channels.

Maybe this new EPGgrabber can be used with your channels?
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/xmltv-137/webgrab-plus-new-xmltv-grabber-88425/

I succesfully tested it out with Danish channels. It uses the same two websites as the standard WebEPG, so data is the same. You may be lucky...

    :sorry:

Thanks, pilehave. It is going to take me some time to digest this. At first glance, it looks as if directv is a source here is the US.

Problem is partly that MediaPortal is missing North American based developers. After all, only they (you) can test the solutions and pinpoint problems.

    Hi again oremguy

Sorry, been away a couple of days.

I went to the link you gave me and read the thread. The poster indicated that he changed the MPEG-2 Video decoder to Gabest. I did this and I now get video. Hooray.
    That's great. :)
Did you try changing the MPEG 2 library within FFDShow though? I really would like to know whether that would also solve the problem, so please try that if it is at all possible.

Regarding EPG: Schedules Direct has EPG info for DirecTV (but it will cost you). The TV Server plugin is -->here<--. You could also try your luck with the info provided -->here<--.
