A bug could cause MediaInfo.DLL to analyze the entire file to calculate bitrate and other information that is provides, which on a large file can add to substantial delays. Since this matches your problem description, I thought of MediaInfo.DLL first. But that program is constantly improved as well, so a new version might fix your problem. Normally it only needs to obtain the small 1-2kB header on the movie file to get all the information it needs.

And if all fails, you can try to disable it. At least to debug the source of your problem, because if everything works fine without MediaInfo.DLL you know the cause and can investigate it in more detail.

OMG! You are my hero

I replaced also 2 mediainfo.dll with the dll installed with this program: Download MediaInfo from SourceForge.net and it just WORKS fine now.....!! great, great!

I'm gonna test a little more to see of this works everytime with Movies and Series, but it looks good!

    :D

I should have added download links for you, because you can grab the DLL files directly from:

    MediaInfo - Download

Use the 32-bit DLL without installer link if you have 7-Zip, since MediaPortal is 32-bit (even on a 64-bit Windows).

PS: If after your testing everything works good, please adjust your first post with the "Fixed" icon, this will help guide new forum users to find an answer faster.

mmm, it is working, sort of, but now I have a codec problem with the H264-codecs.... I can only watch 1 episode with HD-material. The second gives an error with the codecs. I thought it was about the ffdshow-audio decoder (only one instance allowed) but I don't think it is. I switched it to multiple instances allowd but that only solves the problem for some time. The first episode stutters after aprox. 5 minutes, (green and purple blocks etc). So I guess my initial problem is solved (at least the video's start playing) but it's far from working. I'm gonna dig further into the codec stuff

Codecs can indeed cause a lot of problems, merits alone can be a nightmare to solve. I'm using the MPC-HC stand-alone filters myself for video (and some funky audio codecs) and AC3Filter for AC3/DTS audio. I even dumped DivX dedicated filter, because they were starting to become bloatware.

The benefit with MPC-HC is that you can use the standalone application to debug/test, because it comes bundled with all the stand-alone filters internally and you can easaly switch between them via checkboxes in config. With full DXVA and EVR support on both.

Yeah, I would also like to use MPC-HC but it looks awfull grainy on my screen. And above all: it also freezes. I have the best result using PDVD9-decoder. But the strange thing is: a have to install the complete program and not only the codec. After that, I have to set my merits exactly right, otherwise it will result in freezes or blocks. Trail 'n error ;-)

But I'm getting a bit offtopic here! At least thanks for all your help out here, and I'm searching further, ánd try to prevent that my girlfriend is leaving me because she can't use the television ;-)
