Hi

(I think this is almost classified as a bug) :)

I'm looking for at way to get the the tv quality to an acceptable level for the TV Server 0.3. Right now on my 32" LCD TV the quality is very pixillated and not usefull because of the standard low bitrate for analog tv-card (I'm using Hauppauge pvr 500 mce card).

I have tried the classic 0.2.2.0 MP and here the quality is fine - about 6-8000 in bitrate. But when I install TV Server the settting is lowered down and not usefull in my oppinion for live tv looking (why is is the bitrate lowered down?)

Is a regedit tweak og other tweak possible, so I can change the standard bitrate number the tv-server 0.3 is using ?

Please help !

PS. I have also tried changing this via the christv tweak and hauppuage tweak tool. But the settings is not applied after restart or before on the tv server.

I am afraid this is currently not possible. diehard2 did some tries, but the driver from hauppauge seems to be a bit bitchy. So he had to set the quality manual. Since with higher bitrates some users had problems with synchronocity, this was the trade to satisfy most users.

    Regards

Is it possible to NOT hardcode the bitrate and make it possible for me/users to change it to a higher rate?

I know that higher bitrates above 9000 make troubles, but 6-8000 should be just fine and that is what MCE 2005 does default.

Who can I contact to make this happend. The server is no good for me with the current bitrate for normal tv viewing I'm afraid.

    Hi aikon,

I haven't had time to create tv server quality control on the same level as tve 2. When my life gets less hectic, I'll get around to it. I've currently set it to 3-4mbps, as that is what can be consistently handled on low end hardware. Until I set up the quality control in the config, I have to set it to a level that everyone's (including my) computer can run. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Also, the problem isn't hauppauge, so it won't be fixed by changing your drivers. The problem is in the tve3 (or a 3rd party library). It isn't easy to track down.

Looking forward to seeing this fixed also :)

Allthough I seem to get 6000 Kbps on my recordings...
But that is also only 50% from the 12000 Kbps I get using "high" quality setting in tve2..

Okay - I guess I just have to stick with the 0.2.2.0 version without the tv-server.

I guess a lot of people still uses an analog tv-card and would like to use the new server. Using only 3-4000 in bitrate is not usable on a 32" LCD screen. Could you maybe prioritize this task - I think it is WAY to essential to just let be!

Why not have a data field in sql-server/mySql set the analog bitrate - this way you could let "TV-experts" play a little with the bitrate without compromising it for the normal folks? Then later you could move it to the application configuration options.

Even though - thank you very much for your reply!
