I remember reading somethin' about graph files?? There's a file or files that the tuner card & MP looks at when in use...... So i'll look into that this arvo.. we could compare these!

To anyone....Let us know if you have any ideas or know about these kinda files, this could help heaps!

We've worked out so far its not windows, not the drivers, 'possibly' not MP, the only other things I can think of are the motherboard & the tuner card itself, or even corrupt tuner card config files?

Tonight i'm gonna pull out the tuner card & install it in my desktop pc & install MP 1.0.2 to rule out the motherboard, i'll see if it works or has the same or similar error, i'll let u know how i go..

i had a play again with this tonight and was able to reproduce error and then fix
in my setup i had to unselect "allow this card to be preloaded" and unselect "allow this card to grab epg" from the properties of dvbt tuner and select "allow this card to be preloaded" on the analog tuner properties page.
this way i was able to view the svideo input from my vcr

Don't know if it is relevant but I found on my Compro E900 that I could only successfully get one input going under MP (tried from 1.0 Final - 1.0.1 and 1.02.0) and could not get the STB to work over Component (had STB channels originally mapped via composite and tried a few local analogue channels via tuner). Finally I unmapped all the channels then mapped each STB channel to the one card on the one input (Component rather than composite) and no more preview errors or failure to detect while the analogue tuner channels are now logged to the second analogue. Note this is a dual digital analogue hybrid card.

ok so after some hair pulling ive been able to get a little further!!

I installed MP on another pc of mine, which has almost the same hardware & exactly the same OS, Win XP SP3. I had some real trouble with the .net framework versions over the last couple of nights, i ended up removing all of them that were installed & started from v1.0 to 3.5, now its sweet. For some reason each proceeding SP or update it wouldnt install, errors galore! But I digress.. Once it was all good I was able to install MP 1.0.2.

So far with minimal config in 'Tv Server' & doing what we've discussed previously to config the mapping of the external inputs i've been able to get as far as previewing the input ----> NO ERROR!! Yeehah! i didnt have time to put in the break-out cable b4 work so i'll be trying this tonight...

If its all ok i'll try to replicate what ive done to get it workin' on my actual htpc. I may have to do a clean install but it'll be worth it if it works!

i'll post what i find!

I have found out the cause to my problem thanks to everyones help & alot of aches & pains ... somehow on my desktop pc MediaPortal works, both pc's have the same version of windows installed (for testing purposes) from the same CD, yet it doesnt work on my htpc! Go figure!!

I borrowed a friends version of Windows Server 2003 SP2, installed windows & minimal software incl dvbfix. Installed pre-req install files & MediaPortal itself. Within Tv-Server Config, Added Analog & DVB-T to a Hybrid card called 'Leadtek', went in to the Analog card section & chose Australia, scanned channels & to my delight it found some!! Woooohooo!!!

So i immediately added an input called CVBS, channel 1, then mapped to 'Analog' (which was created when I did the Analog scan, with my other OS installed it didnt do this!). Went back to Channels & previewed CVBS....... drummmmmm rollllllllllllllllll....... it worked!!! HAHAHAHAHA... so awesome!


So i now know it had to do with Windows itself... or at least i know there was/is something missing with every install from my XP CD.. i still dont know why it works on my other pc but not this one... its a mystery . . it would be good to know though..

BIG THANX to all who have helped along the way.....

p.s. I will be trying another install from a different CD for XP, it seems XP is better suited for MP. If i dont write back u'll know 2003 or another XP install CD has fixed the problem!
