I'm useing two digital tv T cards in the UK and the EPG only updates if both my cards are idle and I do it manually from withing the tv server setup by clighting 'refresh epg'. I have had teh engine running for hours with mediaportal running on the tvserver host machine and the epg remains blank.

When I have clciked the 'refresh epg' sometimes nothing happens. I have timed this and it was over 10 minutes without any mention of a timeout as expected.

epg log
10/03/2007 19:39:15 EPG: grabber initialized for 6 transponders..
10/03/2007 19:39:24 EPG: grabber stopped..
10/03/2007 19:39:24 EPG: grabber initialized for 6 transponders..

tv log
10/03/2007 19:39:15 TV service started
10/03/2007 19:39:24 Controller: epg stop
10/03/2007 19:39:24 Controller: epg start

TV Server was stopped at 19:52, no mention of a timeout

On the manual section on the setup, wWhen it does start grabbing it sits on BBC1 for ages. Also once all of teh epg is downloaded and you click 'refresh epg' if wipes the entire contents since the last update so when you run media portal the epg is blank.

I'm running tvengine3-03-10-2007--01-13h--Rev13325 and I was running one from 2 days prior to that and I still have the same problem.

The attached logs also say that BBC 1 does not need updating as it was last up dated ...etc but in actual fact the epg for bbc one is empty as it failed but the epg grabber thinks it got it.

I also seem to have a stuck channel listed that I can not delete. Please look at the error log as that log i sproduced when I try to delete 'five life', the extra channel.

change the timeout settings (there is a thread about this already)

change the epg timeout to 12mins.
then leave both cards idle for a bit.. the EPG will start to populate and you should have a full EPG within an hour.

also change the EPG refresh to 120mins.

Thanks, I tried changing the timeout values but it still times out on BBC one. I think the BBC epg data is not transmitted as often,or maybe as fast as the other TS streams. My main issue was the fact that after hours of being idle the EPG was still blank. There were never any problems with the standard Mediaportal installation so I have restored an image I made when I first installed MP and everything now works fine plus I have been getting some greif from the wife cause her programs were not being recorded.

I like the idea of the tv server but unitil it is improved I'll be sticking with the original MP.

with the settings i gave, you should receive a fully populated EPG within the hour.

all muxes provide the same epg data (for every channel). so the fact that you got none would suggest a config issue rather than a broadcast issue.

ps... you do need to have the tvcard idle for the epg grab to work. if they are being used then it won't do it.
