TV Server Failed to open database (1 Viewer)

I have just installed TV Server latest version.
I have followed all the instructions in the TV Server Manual 3
The connection succeeds, then when it asks to create the database for the first time. I say yes.
Then I get an error message "Failed to open the database".
I have read all the posts on this issue, but it doesn't seem to matter what I do, I still get the error message. I thought before I make a burnt offering to some exotic god and bind my soul forever, I might find a solution here.

Help.

Thanks Mrkk,

I had a look at this post and tried the solution there.
Alas it did not work, but it did get me to thinking. My password had the & sign in it and in the gentle config file it was represented as & ie the HTML code.

So I modified it to read just the &. Still didn't work.
So in frustration, I uninstalled Media Portal, TV Server, SQL, then reinstalled using a password that did not contain the amphersand sign.

And what do you know, it worked. Well sort of. It now opened the TV Server interface with no problems ie no "Failed to open Database" message, but there were no tv cards listed.

So I went back to the native software that came with the TV card. It's buggered there too. In fact I even unistalled and reinstalled the TV card. Still no joy. So I tried a windows restore point. Still no joy.

In any case it appears that my initial problem was with that particular password and it not liking an & sign.

Now, I have to go back and rebuild my system from scratch.

Oh well, I have a direction to head in now, nothing worse than being at an impass and not knowing what to do next.

Thanks for your help, it gave me a new direction. I will get there eventually.
