Same problem here after the update to 1.0.2 unfortunately...
I too want to sort my channels in my groups, but since the group tabs are gone, sorting, adding or removing channels from groups has become impossible!
I hope another update will be released soon because this is quite a major bug...

I fixed this by adjusting the sortorder of the 2 Channel Groups I had in the channelgroups table. They both had 9999 and as soon as I changed one to 9998 all was well within Mediaportal ... could use Manual Control as well as the TV Groups section.
