AW: TV-Server on WHS - Collection of fixes and workarounds

The Last Result 0x4001004 means, that the command from the Task didn't work. But this is no problem. The purpose of the task is waking the computer and this works.
There is actually no way to limit the size of the logfile. If all works fine, you can set the parameter "Log=1" in "Log=0". Then the script don't write anything to the logfile.
Another way to reduce the written lines is, to write a Quote ( ' ) for some logfile commands.

I don't now the database structure from 4TR. If you can say in which Table and Column the script can find the Time of the next record, I can add it to the script.
I don't want to Install 4TR. Because the native TV-service includes all functions that I need and works fine.

    I'm affraid that's the issue.
Recording start and stop times dosen't seem to be anywhere in the DB. I guess For the record looks for upcoming recordings directly in the guidedata.
I will try to clearyfy that.

Funny you should ask this very question...
I started a thread a little while ago asking questions about the DB, trying to find the same answers as you.

Don't mean to hijack but I cannot find a answer.
If I am running MP TV server on my WHS and viewing on my laptop(client). What are my options for a remote control?

    What kind of remote control?

Normally the TV-Server is controlled via the client. No direct control necessary

I tried and tried to look through the various threads but does this work if you install MediaPortal with MySQL???

sorry for the silly question if it is one.

    Cheers Jon.

Sorry - no experience so far with this combination.

So you have to try by your own. Feedback would be appreciated, though.

    Cheers,

I have been following this tread with some interest, and I have come across an interesting issue that might be related.

I have run MP 1.1.0 Beta successfully for a long time with WHS as TVServer. Last week I upgraded my WHS trial software to licenced software (PP3). In the same process I installed MP 1.1.0 RC1 (also clean install RC1 client). I am not using 4TR or LightsOut, the WHS box is on all the time.

Installation of TVServer using the method in the first post is working fine. However I never get the "test user" screen to test the database user and password. I assume this is due to the wrong name of TVServer.exe.config, as I get an error message as TVserver tries to start. However, the DB seems to be OK, as I am able to scan channels without problems.

My problem is this : I cannot schedule any recordings. LiveTV works fine, if I do "Record Now" of an ongoing LiveTV session it records fine, and I can see the recording in the "schedules" screen of TVServer Config. But if I try to schedule any future recordings, either through TV-Guide or manually, it does not appear in the schedules screen. In MP client I can activate the recording (get a red icon next to it), but once I exit out of the scheduling screen the recording is gone.

This might be related Kermit1974's posting earlier saying startdate and stopdate can not be found in the DB. However, I have no knowledge of SQL, so I haven't tried to look into the database manually.

I have turned off all firewalls, I have edited Gentle.Config to comment out the entry for MS SQL. I am also getting the same behaviour with MS SQL and MySQL. (I am running MySQL at the moment). I also get the same result using Blue3Wide skin, so it is not skin related.

Could this be some kind of permission issue? MP logs does not seem to give any useful info, although I can post them later if relevant.

I am not sure if this is an RC1 issue or a WHS issue, but I am somewhat reluctant to post a formal RC1 bugreport since WHS is not supported.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do to further investigate this?

    Edit :

Now I am at least able to isolate some logfile information. Each time I try to set up a manual schedule, I get an entry like this in the tv.log on the TVServer:

    2010-03-23 20:50:04.875000 [Scheduler timer(11)]: Scheduler: Orphaned once schedule found 16 - removing

I have also added the MP Client logs for the same session (go to "planned recordings", Simple recording, set up a manual recording of channel "CH-V", exit out of MP). Sorry for the inaccurate menu names, my MP language is Norwegian :p

    Edit :

 OK, so this was quite embarrassing, but I found the problem - date setting on WHS was wrong, the date was actually set to tomorrow. No wonder scheduling failed for recordings 30 minutes ahead in time. Setting the date correctly fixed the problem. WAF restored, everyone happy.:)
