Ahhhh. Drivers must be installed with admin privileges. If your normal user account isn't admin that might explain it.
They should - but the user account used is the main admin account, so that's not fully clear to me. Maybe a standard security thing on server OS.

I wonder if this is [also] a permissions or user account issue. There is nothing else that springs to mind as a potential cause.
Anyway, TV-Server can be started manually, or starts when calling the config, so that's something that can probably be resolved. Maybe the SQL database is not yet reachable when TV Service starts for the first time. I will need to dig deeper into this.
    Regards,

Perhaps, I think setuptv requires admin privileges for me, I just happen to be local and domain administrator :)
I did explicitely install MePo TV Server with the "Run as Administrator" option. Setuptv has no issues, it's the service itself that would not start when booting. Now, how often would you reboot a server?

I did some search about the error messages in the TV Server-error.log. Indeed they indicate that somehow the dialogue between the .net application (TV Server) and the database is having issues in the beginning:

[ERROR] - Exception :confused:ystem.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Ausnahmefehler "System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Ein Aufrufziel hat einen Ausnahmefehler verursacht. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Normalerweise darf jede Socketadresse (Protokoll, Netzwerkadresse oder Anschluss) nur jeweils einmal verwendet warden
In English: "A socket address may only be used once". This happens for example when several messages are created by the software. Each message creates a separate connection, which utilizes a port. If SQL is not replying quickly enough, then this may explain the error messages.

I remember that last week I tried to set the service to "Automatic (delayed)" but that didn't seem to work. I believe that there is a dependency on SQL browser defined in TVService but obviously that's not enough yet. Is there any simple way to delay the startup of TVService by say 10 seconds?

    Aargh!!!

Everything was working, I could watch TV on two clients. Then I realized that Sky did not work and that I had forgot to linlk the CI to the Tuners with the DD tool and set up the CAMs in TV Config. I did this and now - NO PMT FOUND !!!

What is going on here?[DOUBLEPOST=1403641133][/DOUBLEPOST]Update:

Deactivated the CAM in TV Server Config: new error message when switching on Live TV "graph could not be built"
Removed the CI ticks in the DD tool: full functionality is back !!

This is definitely a driver issue. Can it be due to the BDA injection that I did?

Server 2012 Essentials is built on the same architecture as Windows 8; Server 2012 R2 and Essentials R2 are built on 8.1... I don't know if the BDA implementation is any different across this minor revision.

Honestly, I think your best bet is to follow what MM listed above and wipe clean/start again...

    More info:
    • Verified all BDA Drivers that would have been injected: they all still show the original July 26, 2012 date. I don't think that they were changed.
    • Reactivated the CAM in TV Config for all 4 tuners and set them from "Stop" to "Pause" (while leaving the CI off in the DD Setup tool) -> TV is still working.(y)
    • Checked the CI for each tuner in the DD tool back to active --> TV not working anymore; "NoPmtFound" message
So the problem is somehow linked to the CI/CAM.

Any Suggestion as to what I could do?

You'll need @mm1352000 again to assist you, I have no idea about these cards sorry!

Final time though, are you able to do a full and clean re-install?

I don't think a full reinstall is needed. I can theoretically just go back to the point before I tried to inject BDA drivers because server backups are activated. That would limit time and effort, which is really significant when you imagine the whole mainboard driver fuss plus 2 GB of Windows updates + a full WSUS Server.

I just need to figure out how to do it. Probably boot into the repair console (F8).

I understand that pain! One of the advantages of running hypervisors is that I can snapshot installs at various points and boot up the snapshot while keeping the current intact! Disadvantage is when your host breaks its all buggered!

Checked the CI for each tuner in the DD tool back to active --> TV not working anymore; "NoPmtFound" message.
After doing this did you restart the TV service? That would be required.

A complere reboot is required by DD. So yes, the service was restarted ;)
