I''ve tried several way to but the recordings folder (and/or TimeShift) to a mapped drive (z: mapped to \\zeus\tvrec) and a UNC (\\zeus\tvrec) location, but none of them work; if i change it back to the C: drive it works great; Getting error: No Audio/Video Detected.

I want to test things out if the speed is enough. Because the server \\zeus\ had a 8xRaptor 74Gb in Raid5 config.

I have tried several times to record/timeshift to a networked drive, but it has never worked.

The network drive is too slow. Why would you need do that? You can watch the channels and recordings from another computer anyway.

- If you like, you can record to a local disk and then share that on your network.
- If you get the No Audio Video problem, increase timeout values.

The point for me is to reduce the heat & noise inside the mediapc. If the timeshifting was done to a network drive this should at least help on the noise, but also possibly on the heat.

No one can answer? My Lan is fairly good. 300mbps wireless. Should be fast enough for this job.

This is a known issue, but I don't think anyone is actively working on it with so many other things to complete before the v1.0 release.

In your case, I'd suggest installing the TV server on the machine that houses the external hard disks, then you only need an MP client on the HTPC.
This would really reduce noise and power on that machine.

That is a good point. My problem is that the server is in the basement, so i would have to extend the cable through two floors to get to it.

Make sure that the user account that is used to run tv service is having actually access rights to the network. Normaly none of the services have access on network shares.
