Everything has been running swimmingly but now TV server stops recording show 1 when show 2 starts despite there being 2 tuners on the AverMedia USB key. could be the TV tuner is cactus. Logs attached. Any help appreciated.

    Hmmm, wrong log files?
Latest entries are from 7 April, and date on the zip is 25 March.
    Something's not right there...

Okay this is better - I can actually see overlapping recordings in this set.
So, when exactly did the problem last occur? The more precise you can be (date, time, program and channel names) the better.
The last set of overlapping recordings I can see are when SBS World News and ABC News were recording on the 23rd. Did it happen then?
Before that, the same schedules recorded on the 22nd and 21st... and that's as far back as the logs go.

I can't see any clear indication of problems.
The schedules run for the intended lengths.
There are a few continuity errors in the TsWriter logs which when present in higher numbers might indicate sub-optimal signal quality or HDD stress... but this is inconclusive, especially without times and dates from you.

Thanks. yes the overlap is SBS & ABC news. So once ABC starts recording, SBS stops i.e. at 7pm. It doesn't always happen but it is more common than not. these recordings are scheduled every day.
Hope this helps. Let me know what I may need to provide you with for further investigation.

How do you determine the first recording has actually stopped? Is it only when you try to watch it back that you see the problem, and if so have you confirmed that the file really is cut off and not that playback fails due to a burst of corruption that resolves itself after 30 seconds or so?

What I'm thinking here is that the most likely possibility is signal quality/strength issues.

I can categorically say TV Server is using both tuners to record the two schedules and there is nothing intentionally stopping recordings before their scheduled end times.
From experience I know that when signal quality is not ideal (which could be signal too weak, too strong, aerial moved, wiring damage, wrong tuning details... many many causes) this sort of thing - tuner operation affecting other tuners - can and does happen. Because I don't know how good your setup is or is not - condition of the aerial, wiring and terminations, length of cable runs, number of splits, amplifiers, distance from transmitter, frequency offsets etc. - I can only go on the readings in the log files. Admittedly they're not the best evidence to base things on... but I'm seeing the odd reading of ~10% quality for SBS and ~20% for ABC... plus the continuity errors. That is enough for me to suggest you should check that out.

I note there are no continuity errors anywhere near 7pm for the 23rd, but there are on the 22nd (logs don't go back far enough for me to check the 21st). So, if I had to wager I'd say that the recording on the 23rd was okay, but the one on the 22nd was not.

Thanks. It has been OK for the past few days but now has happened again. The SBS News recording is actually cut - i.e. it is 30mins rather than 1hr. So once ABC News starts recording SBS stops. I only watch recordings. As it is intermittent and this is the only problem with the entire setup I don't think the problem is related to any of the issues you have raised or there would be many more errors in recordings than simply this singular thing. it works perfectly in every other respect - and almost all the recordings are from ABC. the SBSnews is the only non-ABC recording. I guess I will just have put up with it.

If SBS news is the only non-ABC recording that makes me even more suspicious about your SBS signal quality, but ultimately it is up to you whether you investigate further. My hands are tied as there doesn't appear to be any flaw in the MP scheduling code...

So now the fault has changed - it now records SBS News in full but doesn't record ABC-TV at 7pm. It records ABC's 7.30 Report which follows the news. Only thing I can think of is maybe the antenna cable isn't connecting perfectly as there is some pixelation which is a relatively new phenomenon.
