I didn't pay attention to this problem after a couple of forumpost's a year ago or so. But now with RC6 and the final version at the doorstep this issue is still present AND very annoying.

Yesterday my reception (sat) turned bad to none during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms and guess what ? TV service crashed, with no mesage at all it just stops and removes itself form memory resulting in failing ALL scheduled recordings.

I thought this issue was solved. Just insert a still frame after reception fails with the message end of broadcast because of no signal and then end the recording or live stream and let the tv service live and/or stay tuned to the channel until signal gets back again.

Who else can confirm this ?

ps. All other sat recieving software (with the same drivers) just give a still frame until signal gets back and video is played.

    Hi,

    I can confirm.

I'm using a DVB-T tuner. Recently, one of the tp started getting some interference or attenuation. I could check it with the TV built-in tuner, there was just a small amount of bit error rate. The image on the TV was good with very little artifacts now and then.

On the MP, it crashed the TV server every time I zapped to one of the channels of this tp.

My conclusion is that when the signal is not excellent, TV server can't cope with errors... I'd prefer an OSD "Bad Signal" instead of rebooting the machine (or service).

    Regards,

Interesting post - I am having some problems with my ISDB-T (Brazilian DVB-T) card, and MP freezing when I select any channels on this card. One thing that occured to me is that when I look at my signal strength, and signal quality through the Tuning Details section on MP, the strength is very low (less than 10) although the quality is always very high. See the attached screenshots.

I have not yet understood if this signal strength is just too low for MP to work with, and therefore if this could be causing the problems I am seeing.

Did you find any solution to this?
    :D

AW: TV Service crashes when reception turns bad

I had the same problem - as a workaround to not loose all scheduled recordings, I configured the TVservice to restart after crash - but would appreciate a "stable" solution ....
