Satelite/CableTV Provider: Sky

I have now set up MediaPortal with the MyTV server and have followed the video tutorial through. I am finding I am getting a very choppy picture with sound delay on all 3 parts of the HVR4000 - Analogue, Satellite and Digital Terrestrial and when TV is on Mediaportal runs very slowly. I have a fairly meaty PC and the card runs smoothly with power cinema and the WinTV software (apart from HDTV which is a bit choppy).
I wonder if there is anything I've missed or anything I could do to speed things up and get the TV running smoothly?

Any help appreciated

Update: I changed the Codecs and now it runs nicely

So to sum-up, it works beautifully for anyone with the new HVR-4000

Jayrock & Renko! Yes, I experience my Live tv freezes after 3-5 minutes - but audio continues. As soon as I switch channel or "do" something motion picture is back. I have the same setup as you guys: meaty PC (brend new, NVIDIA 7600GT graphics adapter) etc. Any hints would be more than grateful!

Hi,
Hope you don't mind me asking, but how do you find watching and recording through media portal. I.e watch one while others record??

Hi there justathome!
Well, my problem with the "choppiness" is resolved but don't ask me why: I have basically disabled as many Windows XP services as possible and stripped the machine down to what I need it for: running Mediaportal. That's it. As for recording while watching I don't have any problems. My major concern is the enchrypted signal from the monopolist provider CableCom here in Switzerland which refuses to let us use whatever solution we want instead of the ugly set-top box they provide us with. My rule is: ONE remote control for everything - no matter how. Another set-top box would require TWO which makes it impossible. So yes, I am on analogue TV now with my Hauppauge 4000 now.

Cheers

Fred
P.S.
You HAVE to try the myvoice.dll plugin to enable speech recognition with your MEdiaportal - absolutely fantastic. With this plugin the goal is: ZERO remotes :).

Tip, to avoid audio delay, make shore that "Audio render" is set to "Default DirectSound Device" (Video/Audio codec settings).
