TV: Unknown Error Occured (2 Viewers)

Whenever I tune to a channel in MediaPortal, or try a Preview from the TV Server Configuration window, it says "Unknown Error Occurred".

I've tried repairing my database as various threads on this forum suggest (using the mysqlcheck --user=root --pass=MediaPortal --auto-repair MPTVDB command) but it doesn't help. The TV and MP logs show nothing unusual but the error.log file contains this:

Everything was working fine last night and nothing changed between then and this morning when it stopped working.

I've also tried deleting all of my channels and importing them back from an old backup but, again, it made no difference.

Have any Windows updates installed overnight?

I find that updates can play havok with my system, so disabled them..

Just a stab in the dark!

In the end I restored a system backup from last week, which fixed it. :/

I've had to do that - especially after a screw up caused by system updates :-(

Why does windows updates cause errors? That seems fundamentally not right...
