When I first turn on the tv, the video and audio are fine. When I change channel, both the video and audio stutter. The only way I can stop the stutter is to turn off the tv and turn it back on. After this, everything works fine...until the next time I change channel.

This is a problem that has been present in my system for a long time through many MediaPortal releases, both stable and SVN.

  • I have done countless clean installs of both Windows XP and MediaPortal and all of its components.
  • I have tried numerous codecs.
  • I have put the timeshift and recording folders on a dedicated HDD.
  • I have switched off system restore.

None of this helped.

In the attached logs, starting from around 9:50am on the 31st March I did the following:

  • Turned on MP
  • Turned on TV and viewed for a short period (fine)
  • Changed channel and viewed for a short period (stuttering)
  • Turned TV off and On and viewed for a short period (fine)
  • Exited MP

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that I do not beleive that this is a hardware issue. I have recently tried a linux/mythtv setup streaming live tv to XBMC (both on PC and Xbox). This worked flawlessly.

    ...

Usually these are pointing to the direction that the signal itself is bad, but if it happens only when changing channels it could be something else. But at least the data that is written to the timeshifting buffer has serious flaws in it.

Maybe TV card fails to tune properly? Does it happen as well when you are switching between channels that are located in the same mux/transponder?

Hi tourettes and thanks for the reply.

I've tried changing between as many different channels as I have with no luck.

I am able to use the Winfast PVR application without trouble, as well as the old MP TV engine. The problems only arise when using the MP TV server.
