TV/Video freezes when switching to HDTV channel (1 Viewer)

When I switch from an SD channel (ZDF) to an HD channel (Anixe HD) the video freezes after one second, while I still can listen to the audio stream. The problem only occurs on HD channels with an 1080i/p signal like Anixe HD, no issues with 720p signal like arte HD. If I check "exclusive mode" for VMR9 the problem becomes better, but sporadically it is still there (one out of five). I can switch back to an SD channel without problems.

Hi,

the same at my installation.

It seems, that I am not able to watch HD channels with 1080i resolution (Astra HD+ demo channel, Anixe HD). 720p channels (Arte HD) are working fine. 1 month ago, all (also 1080i channels) were running quite well, did the resolution change within the last weeks?

For those 1080i channels I get no video (blank screen) and also no audio.

With TT Media Center I do not get video either, however there I get audio.

My system: MP RC2, TT 3200.

My video card supports 1368*768 at maxiumum, is this the problem??


Any idea? Really disappointing, since Anixe HD sends Olympia in the evening in HD !!

Which codecs do you use and which graphic card? Have you monitored your CPU utilization while HDTV is playing?

Hi guys,
I'm also having the same problems, i'm using ffdshow for mpeg2 and coreAVC for h.264.
When watching SD channel my cpu is running at 60 - 70 % but as soon as i click a HD channel it drops to 2 - 3% and there is nothing, i have tried the tsreader fix but still nothing.

I'm just now busy with HDTV. I got no picture, only sound using CoreAVC. Any idea's?
When I use PowerDVD codec, I have a lott of stuutering watching HD content.

Well it seems that you guys have more difficult problems than me, so maybe I can help. If the TV or video does not freeze at the beginning of an HD stream there is no stuttering at all and the picture quality is brilliant. I had to play a little bit with drivers and codecs.

1) I use the nvidia beta driver v177.79. It is stabil and the first version where you can also change the video chroma output level to PC scale (0-255), so that you can enjoy TV black levels as they are designed for.
2) With coreAVC I also get a black picture playing HDTV videos. On my system coreAVC has also problems with interlaced materials. If I use the cyberlink codecs for mpeg and h.264 streams the picture is great and the hardware deinterlacing is perfect. Please be sure to check the DXVA option in MPs setup. When playing an h.264 video (1920x1080) the cpu utilization never raises higher than 25% even my graphic card is not able to support any hardware accelaration on h.264 streams.
3) Be sure to use the exclusive mode for VMR9 unless you don't use EVR.

Hi,

finally everything HD related works now perfectly.

In my case, it was the PowerDVD 7 decoder (bundled with TT sat card), which obviously was not able to decode 1080i sources.

I now installed the CoreAVC Professional trial version and I'm able to view 1080i channels like AstraHD+ and AnixeHD.

I am using the MPC Video Decoder and I also get the freeze problem as soon as I go to BBC HD - it sticks on the picture of the previous SD channel. Even if I then try to switch to a SD channel I get sound for the new SD channel but it remains stuck on the previous SD picture.

Last night I also installed the VMC TV Pack and the copied on the Beta DLL to get HD and I can view SD + HD TV great with VMC. But I would rather use MediaPortal as I Prefer the overall interface and the Movie playing functionality of MediaPortal.

Any tips on getting this resolved?

MPC Video Decoder does not work with live tv. You have to use other ones (PowerDVD, Arcsoft, ...)

Finally managed to get round and try things out again.
I purchased a Bluray drive which came with PowerDVD.
Once that was installed I am now able to watch BBC HD in MP - Thanks!

One question - installing PowerDVD seems to have de-stabilised my VMC usage - keep getting video analysis process errors. I am now thinking of uninstalling Power DVD but wish to retain the codecs - can anyone tell me which files I need to copy and keep before I uninstall PowerDVD in order to continue using the codecs?
