mmm, just for the input regarding timeshift file - I haven't noticed any problems at all with this...

Using 100 Mbit wired LAN (only 1 remote client though). Using 1 Gb size timeshift files on the server and max 6 files.

Regards

with VLC you are not using TSreader opening directly the ".ts" file.. You are using RTSP protocol...

I think the problem is with TsReader opening a remote file "on another computer" and Tswriter also writing on the same file... as Tourettes sait before

hmm, avoiding rtsp was the only way to watch a stutterfree HDTV (at least for 10min)

Just another qustion. I really would like to watch HDTV, so this method is the only solution at the moment.
Why is this timeshift bufferfile limited to 1GB max? If I could set it to ~4GB I would never get any problems (If I will not watch longer than 4GB data)

I take it the shares R:\records and T:\TS are working on the client ?
If u can view the shares on the client then it should work.
Its the mapped drive letters u should use, not the local drive names on the server.

Also are u editing the correct mediaportal.xml ?
    located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal.

What vers. of mp are u using ?

yes the mapped drive R: and T: are declared on the client and works (on the server is D: an S:)

yes I use the mediaportal.xml from the right location (to be sure I used the mediaportal configuration and it was modifying)

I check all setting with your howto 10 times before posting and really I dont understand :(

To avoid typo, I did a cut and past from your howto

even if my mapped drives are wrong is the "rtsp=no" not enough to have at least a trace in mediaportal.log ?

Ok I did some more tests

    I removed

R:\records

T:\TS

    I keep only

no

now I have "using rtsp mode:False" in mediaportal.log

It uses now the unc path

It works well for recorded TV but It doesnt work for live TV

could you take a look in my logs please ?
