TVServer: No TV Stream after Hibernation (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm using
MP 0.2.3 FINAL
TVengine3-11-19-2007--01-37h--Rev16549
Single-Seat-Installation

Previously I had a perfectly working MP 0.2.3 + TVEngine2 configuration with HIBERNATION working perfectly.
Now I wanted to give the TVServer-System a try.
I managed to get auto-hibernation working with the builtin PowerScheduler-Plugin (activated both in MP and TVServer).

My PC goes into Hibernation and even wakes up for scheduled recording events
HOWEVER, nothing is recording.
A folder is created on my HDD with the data from EPG, but no TS-File in it.

I also noticed that after my PC has woken up from hibernation, I cannot watch any live TV.
Hitting "TV on" in MP produces an error message like "Could not start timeshift...".

Stopping + restartingen the TVService in the TVServer-config-menu solves the problem.
But how can I get it to work with hibernation.
I have also tried "Reinitialize service on wakeup" in PowerScheduler-config of the TVServer menu - NO LUCK.

Please help,
as I really depend on that hibernation feature (and as it was working perfectly well with TVEngine2!)

Best regards,

Heiko

Ensure 'forced shutdown' is disabled in both powerschedule plugins, server and client (if local)

Ensure you are not using by misatke the old MP powerschedule plugin in the client.

    Hi SciDoctor.

Thanks for your very fast reply.

Ensure 'forced shutdown' is disabled in both powerschedule plugins, server and client (if local)

Ok, I indeed have that enabled.
MP + TVServer are local (=on the same physical machine)
I think I did that because my PC was not hibernating without it, but I will make another test again and post results.

Ensure you are not using by misatke the old MP powerschedule plugin in the client.

No, I'm using the new PowerScheduler plugin that says "to use with TVServer" in its mouse-over description :)

    Thanks,

    Heiko

    No luck so far.
I have diabled the "forced shutdown". Hibernating is still working.
On resume, however, I cannot turn on TV in MP. I get the following error message:

    "unable to start timeshifting
    no video/audio detected"

I also noticed that not even rebooting is possible after hibernating.
I have to kill TVService.exe with taskmanager, after that I can do the reboot.

So the problem seems to be with TVService.exe.
    Any hints?

    Heiko

if you have a pci dvb card like technotrend or hauppauge, is still normal. Those cards don't won't work anymore after standby or hibernation, need a reboot.
I hope new MP 1.0 resolve

    Forgot to wrote: I have Technisat Skystar2 PCI;
still no solution to my problem :-(

Why does it working perfectly with TVEngine2?

I have noticed that stopping and restarting TVService solves the problem.
Is there no way to automatically stop service on the beginning of hibernation and restart it after hibernation.

I've got the same Skystar2 and did not find any solution. I tried several tools like hibernate trigger without success and fall back to the integrated TV2.

    Hi together!

same problem here using MP 0.2.3 Final and last TV - Server 0.3 SVN ... search an try thousend things ... the only way i found is a little batch I wrote, which runs after suspend/hibernation

this is what te batch.cmd file does after Hibernation/suspend:

    killing TV-Server if started
    ** net stop "TVService" **
    restart TV-Server
    ** net start "TVService" **
restart MP (not necessary at all, but I do to be sure all works fine)
    ** start /D "path to your mediaportal dir./" restart.vbs **

I use a little Programm that starts the batch after suspend/hibernation (TVPro Devcon its freeware)

Following things i set to MP and TV-Server setup as well

Power sheduler: no reinit, no force to shutdown, prewakeup 180 sec (neccesary to the point, the batchfile needs a while to restart TV-Server)

powersheduler Client: no force to shutdown, pre wakeup 180 sec (neccesary to the point, the batchfile needs a while to restart TV-Server)

This procedure needs at least about 45 sec after you've pushed the power button until you can use MP again. Sure a little bit to long ... but after this all works fine for me.

    naich:

    Thanks for that solution.
I actually might give that a try.

However, meanwhile I've restored my backup-image of TVEngine2 to another partition of my drive.

I have to say that - compared to TVEngine2 - TVServer seems to be stuck in a very early stage of development.
It is far from being usable at all.
On my machine, I cannot even change channels on different transponderns without the TV stream crahsing (have to disable and reenable TV in MP) to get it working again.
    Sometimes it crashes alltogether.

I don't know if this is with my Skystar2, but I will stick to TVEngine2 for the time being.

I´m doing just the same as naich and it works.

By the way, TVPro Devcon is much more reliable than HibernateTrigger....
