Unable to Get TV Server Working (1 Viewer)

I have been trying, on & off for sometime now to get this app working on my main HTPC without success. I have followed the videos' instructions.

Before I start: a stupid question -does the normal version of Mediaportal have to be installed first? I assumed from the videos this is not the case.

Now, I've installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition & Management Studio without incident.

I installed TV Server & reboot. When I attempt to use the start button, the PC hangs & I am forced to ghost to a prior image. I have tried a few different versions including matching TV Server & SVN builds.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you find something strange in the log files of MP?

When MP starting, do the complete PC freezed or only MP?

What about the CPU usage when the PC hangs?

i'm no expert but this certainly doesn't sound MP related if your computer hangs when you click on the START button there is certainly something else going on there. maybe a corrupt install of SQL? perhaps try mysql instead after your ghost image?
