marked the problem, however, nothing and nobody uses the card and preview is working on the server, it is only the client that is having issues

on the client the only warnings i have are those (even though i spesifically set the video render to EVR):

    Hi adispi

It would be best if you were able to post full logs - both the client and server logs would be useful...

    2011-06-13 20:39:52.406250 [(6)]: card: tuned user: adispi-laptop subchannel: 0
    2011-06-13 20:39:52.421875 [(6)]: user:adispi-laptop add

    2011-06-13 20:39:52.437500 [(6)]: control2:adispi-laptop 2 0
This is the first part of the logs (again, it would be better if I had the whole log file...), and it shows that user "adispi-laptop" (presumably the client) requested to start timeshifting.

    2011-06-13 20:39:52.562500 [(6)]: card: WaitForTimeShiftFile - waiting _eventAudio & _eventVideo

Here we see that timeshifting started successfully.

...and then after ~15 seconds "adispi-laptop" decides to stop timeshifting. The card is not idle because "adispi-laptop" started timeshifting 15 seconds earlier.

    ...marked the problem...
I don't see any problem - that entry is normal.

...however, nothing and nobody uses the card...
Clearly "adispi-laptop" is using the card. That machine requested to start timeshifting...

...preview is working on the server, it is only the client that is having issues...
Please post full logs. I think we will see that the client's problem is not with TV Server, but I can't be sure unless I see them.

...on the client the only warnings i have are those (even though i spesifically set the video render to EVR)...
Again, please provide the full logs (ideally by using debug mode so we can see your MediaPortal preferences and the codecs you have installed). These errors tell me that the codecs were not successfully linked to the renderer. I reserve judgement about the cause...

...video plays back just fine, only tv have issues...
Okay, so the video codec settings could be good while the TV codec settings are bad. I can't be sure without full logs.

I found the problem, and i think it should be a bug, but you need to decide.
i found this article explaining how to test that the streamer is working.
when testing on vlc, windows 7 popped up a firewall exception request, i allowed private networks and it worked.
i went into the windows firewall of the windows 7 (the client side) and checked and saw that the installer did indeed create an exception for the software, but only on public networks, and since the exception was there i was not asked to add a new one and select on which networks.

my believe is that this should be a windows 7 related bug for MP.
on the installer, when creating exception, it should either ask which networks to add the exception, or add to both as most of us do not use the MP outside of the private network settings of home.
plus, the logs did not say anything about timeout, or port creation, or anything related that could have led me to think this is network related.

    thank you for the help.
