Hello,

I have a standalone installation of mediaportal on my livingroom computer and a client only installation on an Acer Revo Aspire in my bedroom.

My problem is with the client computer. Everything was fine until a few days ago, when Windows updated itself and rebooted. Now, I cannot play any live TV or any recorded TV on this client computer no matter what I do.

I keeps saying "unable to play stream x", where x changes depending on which channel I try and watch - e.g. could be 2.0 or 3.0. When I try and play a recorded program, it says a similar thing except the stream name is a mixture of numbers and letters.

I did have a similar problem quite a while back and upon reinstalling Mediaportal and my Firewall program, it started to work again (leading me to suspect that the Firewall was the problem).

I have tried disabling my firewall, reinstalling it, changing my version of Mediaportal, changing Firewall programs (I had a go with Windows Firewall instead) but I just cannot get anything to stream on this computer.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me out here, as I don't know what to do other than do a complete re-install of Windows.

BTW, my current setup is:

Windows 7, Comodo Firewall (Windows Firewall disabled), Avast Antivirus, Mediaportal 1.1.2.

Thanks very much.

Have you looked to see what updates were done?

You can uninstall them 1 by 1 to see which one caused it.

Just open Windows Update and on the bottom left it says "Installed Updates" and from there you can see the dates installed and right click them and click uninstall.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have no idea how to attach my logs.

I have seen other members of the forum doing this but have no idea what to do. Would be really grateful to know for any future problems as well.

    Thanks

    I have a similar problem.
I just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and installed MediaPortal as a client on this.
The server is a Windows Vista machine. I have another computer with Window XP running as a client and there everything works well.

When I try to view recorded TV I get an error message like "unable to play: xxx".
When I try to view live TV i get another error message like "unable to play stream2.0".

Both server and clients are running 1.1.3.0.

See attached logs for more info.

Did you manage to fix this elsmandino?

AW: "Unable to play Stream ..." on client computer. No idea how to fix.

I'm having exactly the same problem with two Windows 7 clients, the server running on XP. The system had been running flawlessly for months and then boom. I'm also suspecting one of the many Microsoft Updates that came up recently, but I haven't had any luck identifying the one responsable. Doesn't any of the specialists here have any clue? I see meando's log files haven't been read by anyone yet.

have you tried and permanently disable IPv6? That did the trick for me.

2 all people jumping on with the message: I got that problem too, please open a thread for your issues yourself. In forums it is often "just" considered bad manners to hijack a thread, but here it has a real reason: This message is a very generic message saying: I could not do what you asked me too and people get the same message for a plethora of reasons.

So please do as :MediaPortal Forum - Announcements in Forum : General Support says and open your own thread, so that elsmandino can post logs and get support and you will get your own support.
