I get these messages when selecting a channel on the client pc:

" unable to start timeshifting"
" unable to create graph "

I'm sure i forgot something but what do i have to do?
I havent changed anything except installed the plugin and have pointed the client successfully to the server.

server install looks fine.

Thanks, Eppo

    Hi,
Have you tried to disable "firewall" on both comps & changed the SQL browser service so it starts automatic (check if it's started too)?

    Regards

I am able to select a channel from the server, so firewall and browser service is no issue i think (it's up and running).

What i would like to know - for example - is how to build a graph in absence of capture sources

    Hi,
Does it work when you use it on the server?

& you should try to disable firewall to test if that it's the cause, it's easy...

Else if you have followed the wiki about installation it's time to attach the logs from server & mp.

    Regards
    Roy

It seems that these messages occur when the server is not able to tune to the selected channel. When i select a channel for which i'm sure the card should be able to find it, it works, altough stuttery and with hangups. Working on that now.

The message could have been more friendly i think, like 'unable to tune to the selected channel'

    Hi

    I receive the same message:

    " unable to start timeshifting"
" unable to create graph "

On a newly installed Mediaportal Server RC2. Been banging my head as the TV worked and then it didn't.... After reading this thread I tried all kind of changes. Then I found the solution to "MY" problem.... Whilst waiting for the computer to reset after doing enough changes that I thought a reset would be beneficial and got bored. Looking at the computer TV aerial that has been unslightly I decided to run it properly and used a different aerial point in another room which would improve when using Media Portal unplugging the TV/monitor and plugging back in the HTPC TV aerial and reverting back when using the TV/monitor! Therefore I removed the newly laid line and pluged in the TV card back into the original aerial port which normally holds the TV/monitor aerial..... Problem solved. The aerial port in the other room must have been unplugged from underneath the house where the aerial distribution switch is..... Cannot believe I didn't see that eariler!!!

Moral is if you have the above error message the problem could be that the Media Portal HTPC TV card is not getting any signal.

Unfortunately, I have a direct cable feed, and the application that came with my DVICO tuner card works fine. Some additional troubleshooting documentation would be helpful. A Document that has common error messages and possible root causes.
