Forgot the problem in the original post. The TV server is creating the Comskip files but the client Mediaportal does not seem to use them as I am unable to skip forward to the breaks in the recorded tv. Is there something I need to enable on the Client side or server side that would allow the use of the comskip files (created by the plugin on the tv server side)?

You need to watch the file back in the My Videos plugin. ComSkip support is not in the TV Recordings section yet.

    hope that helps,

I am quite sure that it worked on my single seat setup from the Recordings section. I am not at home now, so I can't test. Will definitely test again this evening.

I did struggle a while to get it working. Eventually I mapped the skip button of my remote to "next chapter" for "media is playing". Yes - with your IR Server Suite - :). Was this wrong? Maybe my problem was somewhere else?

rekenaar: You know you can enable automatic skipping now, right?

dareh: Timeline highlighting won't be coming until after the MP 1.0.0.0, at least. Sorry mate.

    Cheers,

I saw the setting, yes. Since I am very new at comskip, I thought I just need to build some trust in it before I use the automatic mode. Some forum posts suggested that one need to adjust the comskip settings. I didn't.

Call me old fashioned, but trust needs to be earned first :)

Thank you . I will try it in the My Videos section. It was unclear to me that I needed to do it outside the TV section. Since I am using the TV server and a client do I have to do something special to get the recordings to show up in the My Videos section since they are on the server?

    Rekenaar:

ComSkip will always err on the side of caution. That is, it might not catch every add, but in my experience it doesn't accidentally skip inside a program.

    hollifm:

Just add a network share for wherever your recordings are stored. That should do it.

    Cheers,

Thank you. Will then (try to) switch to auto-mode.

    Is this the correct procedure:
    1. Tick setting under GENERAL in MP Configuration for auto-comskip
    2. ensure that comskip is run during or after recording
    3. watch recording from the Video section
I must have missed something...not working. Will read a few more posts to try and resolve.
