Hi all,

I got this problem this morning: unknown error occurd.

This happend, when I turned on my HTPC from sleep mode. Tuning through the TV guide didn't work and restarting Mediaportal didn't work either. When I did a fresh restart everything worked again. Logs attached.

P.s.: I also got more weird errors. Like: TV channel not found (but when I try again it works.) or: start timeshifting doesn't work (resolves when I try again). All errors occur randomly. Like when I have watched a movie. Or when my PC is turned on all day. But I don't have logs for these yet.

It looks to me like a problem with your CAM, or perhaps your FloppyDTV - likely related to standby+resume cycles. When it woke from standby it first did not recognise the CAM:

Occasionally I see:

[FireDTV CiMenuHandler(16)]: FireDTV: error reading CI state.

So the tuner driver might be needing more time to reinitialise, or it needs to be reset using devcon or similar. Possibly your CAM needed to be reinserted, or the smartcard needed to go in the STB for awhile (not sure if the FloppyDTV handles the card updates). If it were me, I would write a script to reset the tuner driver with devcon commands each time the PC resumes from sleep. It might take longer to resume, but at least you would probably avoid these problems.

According to your link, devcon isn't supported by windows 7, but I will try anyway

The two available there are for 32 bit and Itanium systems. If you're running 7 64 bit then you need the one that is attached.

Hi again,

Before I tried to mess with devcon, I got the same error this morning.

Now I manually restarted the TV service. Then my TV works again!

Seems a bit strange to me. Because I checked the power scheduler option : reinitialise service on wakeup (also reinitialises tuner)

So is this a mediaportal bug?

I go back to what I said earlier. There are two potential problems:
1. Tuner driver can't handle lots of standby-resume cycles well.
2. Tuner driver needs more time to initialise after resuming.

The solutions are different:
1. devcon.
2. Increase the delay before TV Server detects cards (wiki - "delay in seconds before TV Server detects cards").

My suspicion based on other FloppyDTV threads I've seen was that you were seeing problem 1, but it is entirely possible that you have problem 2. In that case, apply the solution for problem 2 and see if it works.
