    Hi Kevin!

For me it's the same chase - one thing after another. ;-) Setting up the perfect home cinema is it's own hobby, I think I will never have time to really watch a movie ... ;-) But it makes fun, as long as there is a nice community like here.

If I find something out, I'll let you know.

    --Alex

    hi alexirion.

:D Glad someone else has the problem
:( shame there is no obvious cause and fix

I am trying to chase this down but I now appear to have a problem with the powerscheduler. It looks like scheduled recordings are not happening. TV server wakes up but cannot tune the card. One thing after another at present.

I am checking all my updates, clearing the logs and starting again.............hopefully clear and concise logs

    cheers

    I've also seen this issue.

I have a Nova T 500 but running on Win 7. I found that using the reinitalise on resume on the powerscheduler with at least 20 second delay was to only may to resolve it. I put it down to the Nova T presenting itself as a USB device. This means it gets uninstalled and reinstalled when resuming from sleep. I thought on XP there was a way to prevent USB devices being uninstalled but on Win 7 I haven't found a way.

an you confirm that both tuners are working correctly, ie can you watch record different transponders at the same time.

Watch with the driver update, thats pretty certain to foobar a system unless you know how to edit the sql database, clean system no problem :)

Thanks for the warning (glad I image the system regulary "just in case")
I updated the driver....I still have some problems with recordings so I retuned both tuners successfully. Using MP I can record 1 channel and watch another and record 2 channels one of which I can watch. I believe they are on different transponders (CH4 & BBC). So the card appears to work and the latest driver is installed.

I have just set the system up to record twice overnight. it should hibernate any minute so lets see what the morning brings

Just to brighten everyone's day, have seen logs with cards 15-16 listed, using 2 tuners, now if that's not mucking about with drivers, then I'm a monkeys uncle. :)

So just make sure your cards are pretty much in numerical order, ie, 1,2,3,4,5, if they are not, then chances are there is something in the database that will give you grief in the future :(

things are going from bad to worse - just looking at this system appears to chase out a problem, usually different to the one I am looking for.

My overnight run failed - recorded only one of the two programs I scheduled. Both scheduled programs have been removed from the list of scheduled program but only one resulted in a file. Just to make matters worse on switch on this am (6:30) mp wouldn't respond. task manager showed is "not responding". deleting it caused logs to be created but I cannot find them this evening.

This evenings fiasco was a simple case of switch on and......."unknown error" when I selected tv. I have attached the logs and have looked at the mp log. If I read them correctly this is the important bit:

and back to it with a vengeance (MPs vengeance it would appear)

    heres what happened - roughly

I selected bbc1 and recorded the last 20 minutes of "holby" (for my wife). At around 9 as the program finished I selected bbc2 expecting the bbc1 recording to continue while I watched bbc2 - no such luck. I was shown the last few seconds of the bbc1 timeshifting buffer and then live bbc1. So I selected itv and was given the "unknown error". back to bbc2 and......again the last few seconds of the timeshifting buffer followed by live bbc1.

logs are attached but this is getting a little tedious...the more I look the more problems I hit., please anyone got any ideas what's going on?

I think I have determined what is happening.

channel X is selected and is captured in timeshift file A. channel Y is then selected and the tuner is retuned to Y and starts timeshifting to the end of timeshift file but uses the same file A (is this right?). The client starts playing the timeshift file A from the beginning (surely wrong unless it thinks it was a new file) - hence the repeat of the last few seconds from channel X then live (actually delayed) channel Y. Subsequent selecting of channel Z repeats the sequence - appendinmg to the timeshift file A and the client plays timeshift file A from the beginning - so I get a little bit of X, Y and Z then live Z.

Not sure what is going on with your system, but a couple of things you could check, both tuners are going to a separate time shift folder, inside the recording folder.
Both tuners are going to the same recording folder.

Try retuning both tuners separately, disable or delete (my preferred option) any unwanted channels.

Is there enough space on hdd for recordings.

    thanks Ray

both tuners go to the same folder (used the "use same folder for all recordings" button on the timeshift configuration screen).

I retuned both tuners a couple of nights ago and then deleted all unused/unwanted channels.

there is lots of space free on the disc I use for recording - 100G

following a reboot last night the problem cleared - except as I changed channel (which I was obviously doing a lot) there were occasions where the first program I had selected when I switched the TV on flashed on for a few frames before the selected channel played from the start point.

[I am also chasing a bug with powerscheduler - resume from hibernate and MP won't respond. Kill MP and the system goes immediately to standby - logs indicate that the system was trying to go standby from resume. When I get clean logs I will start a new thread]
