iosub - Per your suggestion in "Playing DVR-MS files" thread I installed this patch to V1.0.0.0 RC1 by copying over the 5 files in the patch zip to my MediaPortal program folder and overwriting the older files (copied the old ones to archive folder so I could revert if required).

I now am able to:
Play NTSC content
Play ATSC SD content

I am NOT able to:
Play ATSC HD content

And I have these remaining problems with NTSC and ATSC SD playback:
Cannot see MediaPortal playback controls on screen when pause, ff, rw, skip, etc for all dvr-ms content (but works fine for network playback of dvd's or wmv's)
Very unreliable playback controls and some solid system hangups

All content has been previously recorded on my MCE 2005 RU2 machine and being accessed by MediaPortal over 100mbps wired LAN

If helpful, logs demonstrating error for ATSC HD playback are attached.

:D

Hi!

First , have you test it without the patch?? Because I have check your logs and you have other problems that are not releted to this Patch. Also, do you have Vista or XP?

Second.. Try this, go to MP Configuration/Movies/MoviePlayer and select "AUtomatic decoder Setting"

Hope this helps

iosub,

re: "First , have you test it without the patch??
A: Yes, I tried RC1 w/o patch and could not play dvr-ms files (any).

re: "Because I have check your logs and you have other problems that are not releted to this Patch."
A: I saw the errors in the log, but given they did not appear to be limiting me (yet) I haven't tried to figure out what they mean nor how to fix them.
Q: Do you see any critical errors that may be related to this issue that I need to prioritize resolving?

re: Also, do you have Vista or XP?"
A: XP Pro

re: "go to MP Configuration/Movies/MoviePlayer and select "AUtomatic decoder Setting"
A: I think it defaulted to MPV Decoder(?) and I had the same issue so I set it to Nvidia Decoder and had same issue. I'll play around with the settings this evening when at home and verify if it changes anything by changing that selection.

Thanks for the continued suggestions,
evergreen97

fyi: i don't have mce and dvr-ms files, so i don't need these patches, sorry. Just wanted to give you some infos, what to do that your patches !maybe! will make the way into MP. ;)

For patches in general: keep them seperated. Here in forums, to make t possible to discuss one patch in one thread, and also on sourcforge, so that if one patch is applied to mp, the patch-entry can be closed, while the other will keep opened. :)

Update New Build, (I have remove my added logs)

New build does not work for me with new SVN. MP crashes on startup and in plugin configuration. Could you possibly update your patch to work with the SVN? I need a fix that is in the SVN but I am missing smart zoom already.

Sorry, is the dvr-ms fix in svn yet? I've just updated to the lastest version and it doesn't seem any better. If this isn't in yet is it possible to view the code?

    Thanks

Nop, if you want, you need to use my patch, remember the are two zip files, One for Rc1 and another for RC1+SV1

I don't think MPV is going to be able to decode Hdef material, you need PowerDVD ..
So yes, I think your problem is codecs problem..
If you are able to play SD MSDVR with my patch and HD DVR is not possible, then there is a Codec problem.. check with automatic codec selecction or set powerDVD as codec..

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your work iosub :)

    To cut it short:
Does your patch/fix for the DVRMS problem work as expected or not?
Is it confirmed by other user?

If it's confirmed i would integrate it but from the running thread i couldn't determine if it works or not

Problem with playing DVD's on HDD with patch?

Last weekend I experienced two problems with the RC1 patch for playing DVRMS:
    1. I couldn't play my DVD's from my HDD anymore; after restoring RC1 it worked again
    2. Not all DVRMS recordings could be played with the patch

I will do some additional testing with the RC1 SVN patch and if I experience these problems again, I will add the logs as well.

Iosub, sorry for throwing this in, but I was triggered by Gemx remark
Anyway, I really appreciate all the work you and all the other MP developers are doing :D
