Just ran an upgrade from 1.1.0 to 1.1.2 and now every time I try and start media portal I get the error "Media Portal has stopped working" Winblows is checking for a solution...

The Medial Portal TV server application launches just nothing in the Media Portal shortcut folder, Media Portal configuration, etc.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Finally got the front end going by uninstalling and reinstalling but now there is no Television section for watching TV?

Ideas?

I've gone through the configurations on the server and the front end but still nothing.

vb,

    vbtalent,

It sounds as if you haven't installed the TV plugin or you haven't configured your server in configuration (open Mediaportal configuration and see if there is a TV section - if there is then fill in the TV Server section under TV Client).

You'll also need to run TV server configuration if you haven't already done that. Full instructions can be found in the wiki Quick Setup - MediaPortal Wiki

    Thanks for the reply davidf..

Since this was an upgrade shouldn't it have detected that the TV plugin was already working?

No, no TV section in the configuration... but the TV Server Configuration still has all of my settings and information.

    I'll check.

It should have - but the uninstall/reinstall might have changed that. Run the installer again and install the TV Server (which will put the plugin back) or put the plugin into your plugins folder from https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...rtal-dont-have-same-version-90229/#post686680 (goes in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows) and that should solve the problem and save reinstalling.

I went ahead and copied the tvlugin.dll into the plugins directory and still no menu item for TV?

Going back into the Media Portal Configuration I'm getting the following error:

"Failed to locate assembly 'TVDatabase Version-1.1.2.20631, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' note that the configuration program must be executed from/reside in the MediaPoratl folder, the execution will now end."

I was afraid that you had managed to uninstall fully. You have two options available
    1. Reinstall Mediaportal
    2. Reinstall TV Server and client

The first is pretty self explanitory, for the second you need to find the file "package-tvengine.exe" and run it - it will repair your installation (the location varies by operating system). I would recommend the full reinstall, as there may be other quirks left after the uninstall/install you did earlier.

What a total hosing from an upgrade... seems like this has happened before with earlier versions.

Anyway, I have no audio now but windows audio works, any suggestions for how to fix that?

    Thx,

The upgraded path for 1.1.2 is a fail. The team has forgotten or can not stop the TVService which causes installation to fail to install 1.1.2 version of the TV Service and thus hosing completely the installation process. The installer is then not smart enough for 'reinstalling' as it sees everything as already installed. You must extract from the installation wrapper the actual setup programs for each the client and the tvservice.

See this link for instructions... https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-replace-files-causes-does-not-work-tv-84839/
