Uprading from MP 1.9 (pre) (1 Viewer)

Hi, I am currently running MP 1.9 Pre. My setup is a dedicated TV server (also holds my musikk, TV recordings, pictures and film) and about 5-6 clients All OS is Win 7. The server has 4 dvbs recievers and I run NEWCS and M*D**I. Will all this be taken care of If I install MP2, or do I have reinstall these programs? Will my MP clients (MP1.9) also need to be MP2 (for TV watching).
Is the TV server better in MP2 than it is in MP1 (in what way)?

MP2 runs completely independent from MP1 and can be installed in parallel.

I would recommend you to use SlimTV-MPExtended plugin (+MPExtended) for accessing the MP1 TvServer. This way you can continue using your tvserver.

The NativeTV version is still early Alpha, so you can expect some issues. And it can't run while MP1 TvServer runs (as they would try to access same cards).

You would need to install MP2-Server on your server and MP2-Client on each client computer

Hi I downloaded and installed server only for MP2. Where do I configure the server and how do I stop MP1 tvserver?

You can Stop the MP1 Server from the "MP Server Configuration Tool" or direct in the Windows "Service" Settings.
You should set the Service to "deactivated" in the Service Settings to prevent the Service Start on the Next System Reboot...

I hope you have read the wiki link I posted above. I recommended the first way, using MP1 TVServer+MPExtended.

But anyway. for the "native TV" solution you have to:

1. Download and install https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/slimtv-nativetv

For what it's worth...
Did you understand that the TV configuration is not built into MP2 Server?
All TV configuration (channels, cards etc.) is still in TV Server configuration, regardless of if you use Native TV or MPExtended.

Well it took me some time to undertstand this. Will there be a complete TV service in MP2 (both server and client), or will this be plugins?

The NativeTv plugin for MP2 will give you TV based on MP2 plugins only: the server runs the TVE35 engine and the MP2 clients access them using SlimTV plugin.

Check my post above, you only need to install MP2 and one set of Plugins.
