OK.......it's getting hot in here, keep it civil. A few users were clearly out of line. Two skinners said they like it, scott likes it, and frankly that weighs alot more than an endusers opinion because they are the ones doing the work. Old way will continue to work for the foreseeable future, so if you don't like the new way, you don't have to.
Now, unless you have a new constructive point to bring up, let's get over it. Besides, most of the discussion here should have taken place on thetvdb.com website so users from all sides can participate, I originally only asked how MP-skins would/could/should handle fanart from tvdb.com. So let me rephrase my original question, is the color-info for the fanart of any use to MP-skins? Anybody have any mockups of how they could be utilized (spuck, since we're doing the *hint* game) *hint: spuck*

One recommendation with the colors... if you use them, you'll either need to detect whether it's a light or dark color or else only use them for highlighting non-critical portions of the screen (ie borders and the like). The reason is that I've noticed with images that are primarily white, we don't get any dark colors that could be used for text and with images that are primarily black, we don't get any light colors. At some point I'll allow fan art uploaders to select the colors they want listed, but even then I don't know if it's a good idea to trust everyone to do so.
One thing the colors are extremely useful for is determining whether the image is light or dark. Just average the r,g,b values and everything under 100 would be dark and everything over 180 would be light. 100-180 wouldn't be light enough or dark enough to make a difference. Inker... this would be a relatively easy way for you to auto-select fan art that will match the user's skin colors, but only if your plugin would maintain some sort of internal lookup table or user setting to know what's expected.
Beyond that, I'm sure someone *hint: spuck* could come up with something more creative.
Did a bit more testing - same effect on every skin tried so far as well as Stable and svn MP builds and stable and latest svn of TV series. Looks like a bug with that particular combination of series and fanart.

That is .......more than weird, does it only happen if you first go into doctor who, then back out and then into best machines, or also if you just start mp and go directly into beast machines?
No matter what way - straight in or any other series then in to Beast Machines.
