Spinsafe revolve is the reference implementation and it works fine for me.

I use revision (version 1.1.6) without problems so the skin should support it.

wondering if anyone knows how to create a fanart using corel photo paint. I only hve two backgrounds I want to do (shogun,dogfights) so I can't see buying photoshop. Its real clear to me that these backgrounds are not simple bitmpas so I am curious.

It is though, at least from a technical view ;-) Its really just about finding high quality source images and positioning them so you can still read the text, just go by other fanart to make out where text/episode lists appear.

Just save your finished image as .png and name it accordingly. You could even do one in paint.

Yes MSPaint, or :aint.net:: or ::gimp:: are two free apps which also can be used to save as a .png (Gimp can handle layers, not sure about paint.net)

Paint.NET handles layers too.

Try upgrading to this using 0.2.3.0 RC2 of Media Portal

btw...quite a nice skin, only thing stopping me from using it is the episode list doesn't use a fixed font

I assume the back field must be a layer and a .png file retains that layer as part of its makeup. This must be wha tI am missing. Then as someone said, finding the high res image is the bigger issue.

OK, I'm not used to working with these kinds of images but I would love to help if someone provides some tips & tricks. For example, how do I soften the edges of the image I want to use as it is done with the 'Charmed' fanart above?

No, you don't need any layers. PNG's do not have layers, its just a flat image, really. Layers only help to create the image, however the final image does not have any layers at all.
