Well, rather that, then the way it is now. Since there are several skins out there, it should be a skin-issue, not hardcoded into the fanart. Like for me now, using Monochrome, that squared box is just a pain in the ass.The overlay serves a purpose. Without it then some of the episode information would not be legible. Also, the amount of overlay needed depends on the image. By having this done in the image the creator can account for position and level of overlay, if an overlay is needed at all. If this were not to be done in the image then the skin would need to be able to adjust the overlay for each image.
The square box pissed me off, so I'm currently working on making new fanarts for all the shows I currently have in my DB.
I'll post them on your site Spuck when I'm done.
Sweet, those boxes are really annoying with the skins I use.The square box pissed me off, so I'm currently working on making new fanarts for all the shows I currently have in my DB.

Not sure how much better that would be. Sounds like the skin is still going to display the overlay so we are back to where we left off. Actually a little worse since the skin is displaying a light or dark overlay only and a static level of overlay. The only way this would be an improvement is if the skin allowed the user to determine if an overlay was necessary, what color the overlay would be and how intense the overlay should be for each individual Fan Art. I think that would solve th problem right there.
