Using MCE remote to control my external Sky Digibox (1 Viewer)

I want to set MP to be able to forward my MCE remote signals to my external sky box so I can change the channels and navigate MP with a single remote. I have tried a few things but nothing seems to work without me requiring another hardware device. The MCE remote has a receiver and transmitters. In fact MCE itself works just great with it, however I prefer to use MP. Can anybody suggest what I should try? I am running the 0.2.0 RC3

Thanks
Allan

I have searched for MyBlaster but all of the links appear to be broken. Can you give me a URL to get it from?

Thanks

If you get it working please let me know how!

I've been trying to get it working for ages.

Late nights til 3.00 in the morning, trying every released version of MP, every version of blaster I can find a link to, using both ports on the blaster and writing modifications in the mediaportal.xml. Nothing works!

I can get the blaster to learn the button presses from the sky remote but that's as far as it goes. Pressing the test button in the blaster plugin appears to do nothing at all. Needless to say it's very frustrating as this is the last step to having a very good (better than MCE) system.

There does not seem to be any definitive guide as to how to set it up where the files should be placed in the file structure, what files are created and where and what is actually required hardware wise - unless anybody knows differently?

I believe it works for some people but is probably dependant on the version of MCE IR / blaster unit you have and the specific model of sky box you have.

It would be really useful if there was a list of know good combinations that do work.

Hi,

Found this text in the forum somewhere (dont remember where but I tend to copy these texts locally after I need to reinstall my OS too many times).

"Place myblaster.dll in your plugins\process folder.
Place myblaster.exe in the root of your MP installation/working folder.
Execute myblaster.exe and run through the learning process.

You then need to tell MP which channels are external, this is done through the Configuration application.

Then run MP and hopefully when you change the STB will respond and you'll all be a happy people once again."

This setup works fine for me with European MCE-remote (USB\VID_0471&PID_0815\PH00FROQ)

I remember getting an error after RC2 CVS version but there is an update made by scoop

Hi Funky,

Just followed your info (found the modded blaster by scoop).

The learning part worked ok after running blaster but when I then went to the plugin config using media portal setup, pressing the setup button for the plugin nothing happens at all? No config screen appears for the plugin.

Anyway I ran mp and tried changing channel to a specific sky channel (it is setup correctly as a an external channel via stb and sending correct channel code), nothing happens the ir blaster light does not flash.

I noticed there was info on the original thread about what appears if you use blaster /dump. Here's the result I get from it.

30/03/2006 23:53:28 Device.FindDevice: \\?\usb#vid_0471&pid_0815#ph00fwum#{7951772d-cd50-49b7-b103-2baac494fc57}

Would I be right in thinking that something in here has to put in the complied code to allow my version of the mce blaster to work?

Blaster setup

Hi cass

Try to configure blaster outside Mediaportal Setup. That is the only way it works for my.

Erase the old files in Mediaportal root folder called Myblaster.dat and, if exist, Myblaster.log.

Place Blaster.exe in Media Portal root folder and Myblaster.dll in Process folder under the Plugin folder.

Execute blaster.exe directly from Mediaportal root folder, not from inside the plugin section in MP Setup. A small program starts, where blaster can learn the codes from your STB remote. I never learn the code for "select", just 0-9. Exit the program and try it in MP.

Make sure you have the newest blaster, where the .exe file is named blaster.exe instead of myblaster.exe. Found here:
[EDIT]: link removed; download from the plugin repository on the homepage now.

Baster Setup - added info

Hi cass

I just reread your message. After setting blaster up outside MP Setup............don't open the config-screen inside MP Setup. I think this overwrites what was just "set up" outside MP!
So only enable the plugin, if not already enabled.
