Hey all,

I have a really strange issue with MP 1.5.0

Single Seat Install with MySQL with 1 x TBS 6985 S2 Quad Tuner and also 1 x Hauppauge HVR4000

Everything appears to be working ( except one HD channel... but that is another thread)

Switching channels is ok, they seem to lock, Timeshifetc t ok. Stress Tests seem to pass ok.
Manual Preview is fine etc etc.

After a period of time ( e.g over night.. e.g I left the HTPC is running on a channel ( i.e does not sleep)
when I try to select a channel ( EPG is ok ) MP fails and reports no signal/Program not found etc.

This happens on all channels FTA etc. The give away is that is my scheduled recordings fail ... no reason can I find.

If I rescan the transponders all the channels are there. The Signal is fed off the Dish to a 4 Way Splitter to each Tuner, signal strength and quality is fine.

I have disabled the HVR4000 and just run the TBS card. Updated drivers etc. No change.
Tried changing the DVBs settings, to Pause/Stop, Pre Load etc... nothing seems to make any difference.

I turned on debug and it tripped the crash logs so MP is not happy.

Not sure what logs are of interest, if someone would advise I will post.

Cheers

Ok, so having an issue uploading the logs... keeps failing on upload.
Maybe try a different browser. If that fails, check that you don't have an anti-virus program interfering.
You could always upload to mega, dropbox or whatever if necessary.

Hmmm, odd. What kind of splitter are you using - is it power pass for all ports?
[edit: I ask because it looks like the only channel consistently locking successfully recently has been the Channel 9 feed. Since that is vertical polarity, I'm wondering whether your distribution and H/V switching is all good.]

It's a 4 way with power pass on one port. That is going to Tuner A. The card also has power from the motherboard, not sure if that makes any difference. Do I need to replace with one that has power pass on all ports or should this work ?

Ahhhh, yes - that makes a big difference. :)
What it means is that if you haven't used tuner A then none of the other tuners will work. It also means that if tuner A is/was tuned to a vertically polarised transponder (Sky and Freeview are horizontal - feeds and Aussie channels tend to be vertical) then you won't get Sky or Freeview channels from tuners B, C and D until tuner A is tuned back to a horizontal transponder.

What you do from here depends on your preference. Your viewing of the new channel 9 feed is probably the biggest cause of the problems here.

If you were to buy an all-ports-power-pass splitter then tuners B, C and D would be able to tune Sky/Freeview channels whenever necessary (eg. for scheduled recordings). If somebody happened to be watching Channel 9 at that time they would lose signal.

Otherwise if you stick with your current setup you have to remember that all Sky/Freeview recordings will fail while you're watching Channel 9, and you must tune a Sky/Freeview channel after you're done in order to allow the other 3 tuners to work.

If I were you I'd go with option 1: buy another splitter.
