I am thinking about using zotac zbox nano's for mp clients.

One of the cheapest being the via based one which uses chrome9 gpu. I want to know if this gpu will work with mediaportal.

Nope. Chrome 9 cannot handle it. It's basically maxed out already on Areo when WIn7 is booted. It already stutters on desktop usage.

Absolute minimum for Zotac would be their ION based boxes, and they will already be very slow but can manage 1080p (with a few lost frames now and then) if the files are 100% perfect encodes. You can forget about most 3D files as there is too much difference going on between key frames (basically double of not 3D - not in pixels though, but this is not how h264 works...)
