It was an option off of the DVD or program menu. It was in with a bunch of other options that didnt work or were disabled, but it worked flawlessly every time. If you believe it is still there somewhere in the current version, please point me to it.

Ok, now I know what you mean, it was the burner plugin.
But there is an other way, in the recordings of the tv plugin,
there is a compression option where you can convert the files to mpeg.
You can try this way.

cutting big files

Hi! first, thanks for this great Media Portal

I'm trying out this plugin for the first time and I have some difficulties. Cutting and converting are working fine, but only with "small" files, smaller than about 1 Gb.
Bigger, like movies, over some 1 Gb (like 3 Gb), won't work?? it would be really nice to have it working...

* gutting: first it is ok, makes the first start mark ok, then after a while when I'm searching the end-mark-place (with enter-key pushed down), MPortal closes -- (makes that so called "illegal thing" and so on...the microsoft style...).
It seems that cutter "drains" all the RAM memory (I have 1 Gb), it stops when there is about 100 - 200 Mb left, (FreeRamXP -program shows the amount in
systray). where should I try to find solution?

* converting: does not convert although says it is converting: starts, shows the first cm of "progress-stat-bar", then says done, asks for deleting orig.file --- yet nothing really happened, no new mpg-file appears....


* slide bar does not work with mouse, I read about it - how does it work with keybord?

Should work. Has been tested even with big files. Do you have enough space left in your folder?

Never had that, here. What version of MP are you using?
Do you have enough space left?

* slide bar does not work with mouse, I read about it - how does it work with keybord?

You will need to use the arrow keys for that.

still no conversion...

Hi Ralph!

I have free diskspace about 100 Gb, so there is room. I have normally swapfile size 1500 - 3000 Mb, I tried 4000 - 4000, made no difference (1GB RAM). MP version is latest, 0.2.1.0
It is working fine, except that window-resizing freezes MP:
when I have TV open in small window, and try to get it bigger by dragging the by the window-corner, MP freezes. Same happens if I change to full screen mode. And this happens only TV on, not in other MP-windows.

Yes, I figured myself the keybord thing, too (guessing and trying, first spacebar to get to slider, then arrows...) Thanks anyway for that tip!
So I tested cutting again that way, and it worked!!! No more "out of memory"-kind of thing. So the problem did lie in pushing "5 mins" the enter key to get to the next point in the movie... (or maybe not?) really strange thing anyway...

Then I tried the converting, but it won't work, still the same, no conversion for movie.
MP does not crash, no error reports, but nothing gets done...? very very strange.

Hi chaps,

I am having problems with DVR-MS cutter. I set my start and end points, add it and then hit cut... nothing, it just sits there with a green to red bar at the bottom. I can navigate around the buttons, and have left it running for hours but nothing is produced, what am i doing wrong?

Which version of MP are you using?
What files are you cutting, mpeg or dvrms?
Which skin are you using?

Tried with Blue2 wide
Trying to cut DVR-MS recorded with MP

I noticed you helped a guy earlier in the post, was this an svn fix?

please try one of the latest svn, a lot has changed since 0.2.1.0 or wait till the next stable patch/release.

No preview window when editing mpeg

Is work going on for complete mpeg support?
I know, it is a complex thing, I now use programs like cutermaran to cut commercials out of mpegs.

I would be very glad to have full mpeg support in your fantastic plugin.

By now I can't use it at all, because

->When editing mpeg I got no preview at all (just a black preview window).<-

- Sound is ok so far, but no video at all.

I use newes snapshot and blue two wide skin, no filters. I tried several video codecs.
